Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - A man and woman made a paltry attempt at evading police, but were ultimately taken into custody after a pursuit from Glendora to Irwindale February 17.
During the pursuit, a passenger tossed a handgun from the vehicle on the westbound 210 freeway just before the 605 freeway interchange. Officers ultimately recovered the gun, as well as narcotics and instruments described as burglary tools, according to the Glendora Police Department. The department’s Community Impact Team and detectives were conducting enforcement patrols in areas saturated by community complaints of drug sales occurring. A traffic stop was attempted on a vehicle whose driver reportedly committed several vehicle code violations, but the driver refused to stop, according to the Glendora Police Department. The driver and passenger were taken into custody. Arrested were Julia Victoria Barbosa, 24, and Joseph Jesse Marquez, 21. Barbosa was booked on suspicion of evading an officer with wonton disregard for public safety, identity theft, possessing a controlled substance, possessing burglary tools and a probation violation, according to Glendora Police arrest records. Marquez was booked on suspicion of possessing counterfeit items, possessing a controlled substance, possessing a controlled substance while armed and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, according to Glendora Police arrest records. Marquez posted $50,000 bail and was released February 19. Barbosa is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail. She has pending future court date from a previous crime. |
