Deputies responded to a home on Garo Street, called by Los Angeles County firefighters to reported shooting victims just after 8:30 p.m. January 3. The victims both claim they were fired upon at a liquor store near Gale Avenue and Hacienda Boulevard, according to Sheriff’s Industry Station Lt. Hugo Reynaga. One victim was shot in the left leg. His friend got away without any wounds, Reynaga said. “He said they heard two pops and one of the rounds struck his left leg and they both scattered,” Reynaga said. Both victims are not completely cooperating with deputies, Reynaga said. Both men fled to an address on Garo Street where they called paramedics, who in turn called deputies, Reynaga said. Firefighters arrived to the Garo Street home at 8:36 p.m. and transported one patient to a trauma center, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Martin Rangel.
