Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor HACIENDA HEIGHTS - A man and woman inside a wanted Chevy Malibu were detained after an abrupt end to a brief, high-speed chase Wednesday. The suspects were detained after abruptly stopping for deputies at northbound Stimson Avenue at Sigman Street. Medics have been called for both suspects after the driver crashed into a curb near the end of the chase, according to Sheriff’s radio traffic. A deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station attempted to stop the Chevy Malibu at Three Palms and Hacienda Boulevard around 10:50 a.m. after discovering the license plate revealed the Malibu was wanted by law enforcement.
The driver refused to stop and evaded deputies by driving at high speed, sometimes at 70 miles per hour. The driver also ran a red light, deputies said. The driver and passenger ended the chase after striking a curb in the 1600 block of Stimson Avenue. It is unclear why the suspects were wanted by authorities. |
