Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor HACIENDA HEIGHTS - A man and woman were finally taken into custody after avoiding numerous attempts at stopping their vehicle Friday night.
The two suspects were possibly connected to copper wire theft from the Rancho Cucamonga/San Bernardino area, according to California Highway Patrol radio traffic. The pursuit entered the San Gabriel Valley just after 11 p.m. CHP officers from the Baldwin Park office entered the pursuit as it headed west on the 210 freeway. The pursuit turned on to surface streets in the Bassett area east along Valley Boulevard from the southbound 605 freeway. The driver fled into Hacienda Heights near William Steinmetz Park where the passenger fled the vehicle before the driver took off again. The CHP used the Pursuit Intervention Technique twice to disable the suspect vehicle, but the driver was able to get away and ultimately fled the vehicle on foot near Garo Street and Anders Avenue where he was taken into custody. Booking information was not readily available. |
