CityWatch Editor IRWINDALE - A man estimated to be in his 80s died September 23, found after a two-vehicle collision. First responders were sent to lower Azusa Road near the 605 freeway around 7:13 a.m. Tuesday and found a red Lexus and Toyota Tacoma collided with each other. One vehicle sideswiped the other, according to Sgt. Lopez of the Irwindale Police Department. The driver in his 80s was eastbound with colliding with a westbound vehicle, Lopez told SGV CityWatch. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor POMONA - Homicide detectives announced the September 10 arrest of the suspect implicated in the fatal car-to-car shooting of a woman at an Irwindale intersection. Basilio Perez Valencia was identified a day after the fatal shooting. Irwindale and West Covina Police officers located Perez, performed a traffic stop and arrested him, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. Perez, an Azusa resident, was officially charged September 12 with one count each of murder, attempted murder, unlawful firearm activity and enhancements, according to Los Angeles County Superior Court records. Aryanna Rose Avila, 23, was identified by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Avila suffered a wound to the upper body. She was found in the passenger seat of a white sedan adjacent from Gladstone Middle School at Enid Avenue and Arrow Highway. She was hospitalized where she later died. A gofundme has been established to help with funeral costs. Irwindale Police officers were told of a vehicle-to-vehicle shooting at Irwindale Avenue and Arrow Highway around 1:35 a.m. September 9.
After Perez was identified as a suspect, a flyer was sent to surrounding police agencies. Perez was arrested shortly after. It is not publicly clear if investigators determined a motive for the shooting. CityWatch Editor IRWINDALE - One crime scene was broken down, a second remains active after a fatal shooting Tuesday. The shooting reportedly occurred in the Intersection of Arrow Highway and Irwindale Avenue. The victim was transported to a hospital and died, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. Los Angeles County firefighters were sent to North Enid Avenue south of Arrow Highway near Gladstone Middle School at 1:38 a.m. Homicide detectives and Irwindale Police officers focused their investigation on a white sedan stopped along the street. Children and parents were seemingly unaware of what was happening during morning drop off. The motive for the shooting was not yet revealed.
