Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA CRESCENTA - No weapons or suspicious items were found on a man who is accused of trespassing on the grounds of Crescenta Valley High School February 1.
The campus was locked down after staff witnessed the man carrying a large duffle bag walk through the campus, 2900 Community Ave. A search for the man, as well as any possible items possibly left behind, was conducted by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies. The search turned up fruitless. Students and staff were eventually evacuated and bomb sniffing dogs helped sweep the campus, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Students were evacuated to Christ Armenian Church, 4441 La Crescenta Ave. The suspect was seen and detained at a business in the 3500 block of Foothill Boulevard in Glendale around 3:20 p.m. He was reportedly identified as the man seen walking through Crescenta Valley High School, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The suspect was booked on suspicion of a misdemeanor-level charge of trespassing. “Based on statements made by the individual during the arrest, there is no evidence at this time to suggest there was any nefarious plans by him while visiting the campus,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in a written statement. |
