The unidentified suspect was behind the wheel of a vehicle that was taken from West Covina. Deputies ran the license plate in the 17200 block of Inyo Street and discovered it was reported stolen, said Lt. Rector of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. “The suspect began to speed up and evade them. A pursuit was initiated,” Rector said. The driver crashed the stolen ride into a parked vehicle at Turk Drive and Chatterton Avenue. The suspect fled the vehicle on foot with deputies following close behind. The foot pursuit lasted for about 100 yards before the suspect ran into a yard, Rector said. A perimeter was established to contain the suspect in the 16900 block of Turk Drive. Residents of the neighborhood where the suspect fled helped point deputies to where he was hiding, according to Sheriff’s radio traffic. The suspect was eventually found and taken into custody.
