The shooting took place in the 500 block of Leverette Avenue around 6:30 p.m. Rounds were exchanged between two people, according to Lt. Rick Rector of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. A woman in her 50s, a bystander to the shooting, was struck and hospitalized in stable condition. No one directly involved in the shooting was detained or arrested, Rector said. While Rector did not have a description of suspects handy, a Sheriff’s crime broadcast revealed a female driver described as Hispanic, about 20 years old and she wore a white tank top. The shooter is a Hispanic man also in his 20s and stood 5 feet 6 inches tall. He wore a black shirt, black hat and black shorts. The suspects fled in a white 2013 Honda Accord west on Main Street. The shooting took place at a house in the 500 block of Leverette Avenue around 6:30 p.m. A man opened fire and fled in white 2013 Honda Accord driven by a woman, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s crime broadcast. Deputies reportedly discovered a wounded victim a few properties over from where the shooting was reported. It is unclear if the victim shot was the intended target. The vehicle sped off westbound on Main Street. The female driver is Hispanic, about 20 years old and she wore a white tank top. The second suspect is a Hispanic man also in his 20s, 5 feet 6 inches tall. He wore a black shirt, black hat and black shorts. Deputies are setting up a containment for an investigation. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor LA PUENTE - An Industry Sheriff’s deputy was uninjured after the deputy’s vehicle was hit by a suspect Monday afternoon.
The collision occurred more than one hour ago. Deputies pursued the suspect, who fled and is hiding in the area of Puente Avenue north of Amar Road, according to Lt. Rick Rector of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The suspect fled his vehicle on foot and deputies have search teams searching neighborhoods yard by yard. Rector could not state why the officer was rammed by the suspect, but initial radio traffic indicated the deputy was working an undercover operation. It is unclear what the suspect was wanted for before striking the deputy’s patrol vehicle. No deputies were injured, Rector said. A K9 unit is assisting in the search. |
