Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor LA PUENTE - A 60-second pursuit ended in gunfire after the driver of a stolen Honda crashed and ran on foot late Monday night.
The driver crashed a stolen red Honda sedan in the 1300 block of South Sandy Hook in La Puente around 11:30 p.m. The officer attempted to pull over the driver after believing he was connected to a robbery in neighboring Industry, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The suspect, a Hispanic man, was hit once by gunfire. His wounds are not life-threatening. The driver was fleeing at high speed and failed to yield when the officer initiated a traffic stop. The driver crashed the Honda into the median in the 1300 block of South Sandy Hook, the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said. The officer drove after the suspect fleeing on foot. Shots rang out when the officer tried to detain the suspect, the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said. Officers alter determined the pursuit suspect was unrelated to the robbery in Industry. No one else was injured. |
