The mini bike rider was eastbound on Temple Avenue and crashed into a vehicle that was making a left turn from westbound Temple to southbound Stimson Avenue, according to Lt. Geary of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The driver of the vehicle the rider crashed into remained at the scene. This reporter observed video of the crash scene. First responders performed CPR on the rider until he was transported to a hospital. The intersection remained closed for hours during a collision investigation. The driver, only described as a man in his 30s, suffered gunshot wounds to his upper torso. He crashed at Valley Boulevard and Trafalgar Avenue and injured multiple people in the collision, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station responded to the scene at 12:45 p.m. The victim was hospitalized and later died from his wounds, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. “It should be noted that after the victim was shot, he continued driving and collided with another vehicle,” according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The other injured people were hospitalized for injuries considered not life threatening. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA PUENTE - A pregnant woman is being hospitalized and at least one other driver was injured during a high-speed chase that ended with a head-on collision in La Puente. The driver was taken into custody after initially refusing to exit for deputies after crashing at Workman Mill Road and Valley Boulevard. Deputies from Norwalk originally pursued the driver for hitting a pedestrian, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s radio traffic. Deputies chased the driver of a tan SUV through neighborhoods in the area of Workman Mill Road and Rose Hills Road before entering north on the 605 freeway. A deputy crashed into another vehicle during the pursuit, according to Sheriff’s radio traffic, just before the suspect hit a vehicle head-on. The suspect was hit with pepper ball rounds before he complied and was detained. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA PUENTE - A driver died at the scene after likely suffering a medical emergency, which caused a two-vehicle collision at Amar Road and Willow Ave. Thursday, a Sheriff’s sergeant said. The crash occurred near 13941 Willow Avenue around 1:20 p.m. April 23. The driver was identified as 62-year-old Eugene Rivney, a La Puente resident, according to investigator Ryan Parraz of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.
Firefighters told the investigating deputy that Rivney possibly suffered a heart attack which caused the collision, according to Sgt. Sarabia of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The true nature of Rivney’s medical emergency will be revealed once an autopsy is completed, Parraz said. Rivney struck another vehicle, but Sarabia did not know if any one else was injured. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA PUENTE - A gun was reportedly found inside a vehicle after the driver fled deputies and slammed into another vehicle and a wall Friday afternoon. During a traffic stop at Evanwood Avenue and Lassalette Avenue at 5 p.m., the driver refused to comply with commands to exit and reached for a bag placed on the floorboard. Fearing a gun was in the bag, the deputy grabbed the driver’s arm, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said. The driver bit the deputy on the hand and fled the scene, setting off a brief pursuit that ended when the driver struck an occupied vehicle at Willow Avenue and Fairgrove Avenue, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said. The suspect vehicle also struck a wall. “The Los Angeles County Fire Department transported the suspect to a nearby hospital for a medical evaluation and clearance for booking. A firearm was recovered inside the bag the suspect was reaching for,” the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
The female driver in the vehicle struck by the suspect was hospitalized with minor injuries. The deputy was also treated for his injuries. The suspect’s name was not released. The unidentified suspect survived the crash with a traffic pole and suffered only minor injuries. The pole remained largely unscathed, except for a destroyed crosswalk button, according to Lt. James Long of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The suspect was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI.
Passersby reported on local neighborhood watch pages through Facebook that there were possibly a death caused by the crash, but Lt. Long and Los Angeles County Fire Dispatch Supervisor Martin Rangel reported no fatalities or other injuries in the crash. The driver was the only occupant in the vehicle, Long said. The driver was transported by firefighters to a trauma center, Rangel said. A 26-year-old Asian woman is in critical, but stable condition after being struck at Common Avenue and old Valley Boulevard around 6:20 p.m. July 7, according to the latest information from lieutenant James Long of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The pedestrian suffered a head wound, Long said. The driver was likely speeding when the BMW struck a curb, went airborne briefly, crashed through a cinder block wall and partially into a bedroom in the 1000 block of Molinar Avenue near Amar Road, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station.

The collision occurred in the intersection of Amar Road and Ardilla Avenue just after 2 p.m. The rider was transported to an area hospital and pronounced dead around 2:49 p.m., according to Sgt. Gomez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff;s Industry Station. The driver remained at the scene. It is unclear if drugs, alcohol or distracted driving was a factor in the crash. No arrested were made, Gomez said. The rider was taken to County/USC Medical Center, according to Los Angeles County Fire Dispatcher Melanie Flores. The rider, only described as male, has yet to be publicly identified pending notification of next of kin, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. The search ended in the 600 block of Ardilla Avenue about 20 minutes ago. The two suspects fled through residential yards after crashing their stolen ride, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s radio traffic. The suspect crashed into an occupied vehicle at Willow Avenue and Homeward Street just after 6 p.m. At least one occupant is complaining of pain, deputies said. It is unclear if deputies were pursuing the suspects, or if the suspects fled once they witnessed deputies nearby. |
