Written by AARON CASTREJON | CItyWatch Editor LA PUENTE - Sheriff’s deputies seized two large caches of fireworks last week in an ongoing suppression operation. Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station announced the confiscation of $7,500 in illegal fireworks in La Puente June 20. Another large cache of illegal fireworks was seized June 22 by Industry deputies, containing many of the same collection of aerial fireworks, totaling about $2,000.
A woman was arrested during the June 20 seizure of fireworks in the 1700 block of Hacienda Boulevard. The woman, who deputies have not identified, had illegal fireworks in her vehicle and admitted to storing more illegal fireworks in her Baldwin Park home, deputies said.
The woman was later booked on suspicion of possessing dangerous fireworks for sale or transportation. She has since been released after posting bond. A woman was arrested after being detained by deputies during the second seizure of illegal fireworks June 22 at Amar Road and Puente Avenue. She was also suspected of delivering illegal fireworks, deputies said. “People don’t realize the high risk and harm created by their use,” said Captain Tim Murakami of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station in a social media post. “These can easily start a fire & cause injury.” |
