Written By AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA VERNE - A pedestrian was struck and killed by an eastbound Metrolink train Saturday afternoon. Metrolink train 362 headed for downtown San Bernardino struck the pedestrian near San Dimas Canyon Road south of Arrow Highway around 1 p.m. La Verne Police received a call of the collision at 1:02 p.m., according to Cpl. Erin Hess of the La Verne Police Department. A representative with the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner arrived on scene around 3 p.m.
With the coroner on scene, the train will soon be moving to its destination, Hess said. The body rests several hundred feet west of San Dimas Canyon Road. Near the body, a small memorial consisting of a blue balloon, an orange balloon and a white cross is erected. The memorial is from a previous train versus pedestrian death, Hess said. Whether Saturday’s death and the memorial are connected is unknown. No other injuries have been reported. |
