Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA VERNE – Detectives seek the public’s help in identifying two suspects after a 76-year-old woman’s wallet was taken from her in La Verne.
Detectives described the crime as a distraction burglary: the woman reportedly took the wallet while the man distracted her inside Vons, 1600 Foothill Blvd., October 1 around 10:36 a.m., according to the La Verne Police Department. “The suspects entered and exited the store in under two minutes. The suspects used the victim’s stolen credit cards to make multiple purchases at Best Buy, Ulta, GameStop, and Kohls in the City of Glendora,” according to the La Verne Police Department in a written statement. The first suspect is a Latino woman who stands 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 350 pounds. She has black hair, brown eyes and is 30 to 40 years old. The second suspect is a white man who stands 6 feet tall and weighs 170 pounds. He has brown hair, brown eyes and is 20 to 25 years old. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA VERNE - Two men used a stolen ATM card to withdraw $1,600 in cash throughout September, La Verne Police revealed Thursday.
The two men were caught on surveillance camera withdrawing funds from the victim’s account in eight transactions between September 5 and September 12 -- five at a San Dimas Bank of America and three at a Glendora Bank of America, La Verne Police said. Then men are unknown to the victim. The suspects were captured on camera driving to each location in a newer grey Infiniti Q50 4dr with paper plates from Keys Cars in Van Nuys. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor LA VERNE - Police plastered the face of an accused debit card thief on social media September 13, hoping public help will lead to his capture.
The suspect came into possession of the stolen debit card and used it twice, August 24 and August 25, withdrawing $800 total from a Glendora One West Bank, 600 W. Route 66, according to the La Verne Police Department. It is unclear how the debit card was taken and how the suspect learned the victim’s PIN number. The suspect appears to be a white man in his early to id 20’s. He sports a goatee. The suspect is unknown to the victim.
