The Walgreen’s at 903 E. Huntington Dr. was robbed by two men around 8:45 p.m. The men hopped over a counter. The suspects took around $900 in cash from the safe, Oxycontin and possibly the pain medication Norco, said Sgt. Chad Harvey of the Monrovia Police Department. The men covered their faces with the hoodies they wore, Harvey said. No injuries were reported, no weapons were seen and no threats were made, Harvey said. The suspects, both Black men in their 20s, fled northwest from the pharmacy on foot. One suspect wore a grey hoodie. The second wore a black hoodie. Officers were called to Kohl’s, 504 W. Huntington Dr., around 10:40 a.m. Sunday, May 6, after an employee detained the woman. The woman allegedly told the child, who is between 2 and 4 years old, to take toys without paying, Monrovia Police said in a written statement. The woman was not arrested, according to Lt. Jaime Alfaro of the Monrovia Police Detective Bureau. The Department of Child and Family Services was notified and charges will be brought against the mother, Monrovia Police said. The suspect or suspects entered the home through an unlocked door sometime before 9:15 p.m. in the 500 block of Hacienda. The resident arrived and found the home burglarized, Monrovia Police said. It was unclear if the shotgun was secured or left in the open. Dwayne Sims was arrested by Monrovia Police after fleeing the scene of a home burglary in the 600 block of Royal Oaks Drive. The homeowner arrived and discovered Sims inside his home around 12:11 p.m., Monrovia Police said. Sims ran from the home and into a vehicle. The homeowner chased Sims to his vehicle and as he looking in, the homeowner found property taken from his home the day prior, Monrovia Police said. Monrovia Police arrived and took Sims into custody. Sims was booked on suspicion of residential burglary and possession of stolen property. The burglary occurred around 11:04 a.m. in the 500 block of North Alta Vista. Police were dispatched to the home after being notified of a burglary alarm activation, Monrovia Police said in a written statement. Officers discovered the front door was open. Officers searched the home, but no one was inside. The homeowner arrived and informed officers that shotguns were taken along with jewelry, Monrovia Police said. The investigation is ongoing. |
