The incident was reported in the 100 block of East Olive Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, February 3. While receiving reports of gunfire, Monrovia dispatchers were also being told of a fight at the same location, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The victim was found in the rear parking lot of the business. He suffered apparent gunshot wounds to the upper torso. Monrovia firefighter paramedics treated the victim at the scene and transported him to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. The crash occurred at Duarte Road and Fifth Avenue just after 7:30 p.m. September 8. First responders said the vehicle was fully engulfed with flames when they arrived, according to the Monrovia Police Department. First responders extricated burn victims from the vehicle. One of those victims was a child who suffered life-threatening injuries. The child died after being treated at Los Angeles General Medical Center, according to the Monrovia Police Department. It is not publicly clear what may have caused of the crash. The condition of any other surviving victims is not publicly known. The Arcadia Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team assisted with this collision investigation. The person, described as an adult male, was found in the parking lot south of the Monrovia Public Library south of West Lime Avenue around 5:21 a.m. March 1. Initially, the death is described as a suicide, according to Lt. Daniel Verna of the Monrovia Police Department. Verna said the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner was on scene as of 7:40 a.m. and the area would be opened shortly. Officers were called to Trader Joe’s, 604 W. Huntington Dr., around 1:18 a.m. February 27 to a report of a woman down on the ground near a vehicle behind the business, according to Lt. Daniel Verna of the Monrovia Police Department. The Monrovia Fire Department also responded. According to a police log, officers on scene reported vomit and feces surrounded the female. The same was found inside the open vehicle, Verna told SGV CityWatch. “There did not appear to be any signs of foul play,” according to the police log. There was no information indicating the age of the female and it is not known how long the female may have been there. Although, in the police log, officers reportedly said the female was there “for a long time,” Verna told SGV CityWatch. Terry Alford, 46, was shot and killed by two gunmen who hopped a fence and snuck up from behind January 29, 2021. Alford died at the scene. The two gunmen were accompanied by two others. All four suspects remain at-large, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. Alford was shot and killed on the front porch of a residence in the 100 block of Los Angeles Avenue just after 5 p.m. Previously, homicide detectives believed the shooting to be gang related. The fatal collision occurred around 4:26 a.m. The pedestrian died at the scene, according to Ramon Montenegro, public information officer for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Transit Services Bureau. The train was headed to Union Station when the collision occurred at California Avenue. Bus bridges were called to transport riders between the Arcadia and Duarte L Line stations. As of 7:03 a.m., trains experienced up to 15 minute delays as trains began moving again. Trains shared the Azusa-bound track, according to the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority. The male driver in the truck died after his vehicle overturned and caught fire in the 500 block of North Magnolia Avenue. Officers were dispatched around 6:51 a.m., according to the Monrovia Police Department. “According to witnesses the driver was traveling approximately 100 MPH. The posted speed limit is 25 MPH,” the Monrovia Police Department said in a written statement. A picture posted to a Monrovia Facebook group showed the truck from a distance as it was burning up. The truck was likely northbound on Magnolia Avenue, crashed into a stone fence flipped over onto a resident’s property and then caught fire. It also appeared that trees on the property caught fire. No one else was injured in the crash. The Arcadia Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team responded to help Monrovia investigators. A 17-year-old male was arrested April upon his release from the Pasadena City jail April 15. Tanaj Johnson, 20, was arrested April 19 as he was released from the Pasadena jail on an unrelated charge. Christian Hall, 20, had been arrested May 23 by Pasadena Police Department on an unrelated charge and is being held without bail, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Darione Jones, 25, was murdered March 29 in the 100 block of East Los Angeles Avenue just before 5:30 p.m. Detectives with the Monrovia and Pasadena Police Departments aided Sheriff’s homicide investigators with identifying the suspects. The Eastlake District Attorney’s Office filed one count of murder against the teen with the allegation he personally used a firearm, the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office Community Violence Reduction Division filed one count of murder against Tanaj Johnson April 21 with the allegation that he personally used a firearm and one count of animal cruelty because he shot a dog during the Monrovia shooting, the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said. Johnson was also named a suspect in the February 14 shooting of a 10-year-old boy in Pasadena, Pasadena Police said. The DA’s Community Violence Reduction Division filed one count of murder against Christian Hall May 25 with the allegation he personally used a firearm, the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said. Hall is being held without bail ahead an appearance in Pasadena Superior Court June 3. Johnson is being held in lieu of nearly $4 million bail ahead of a May 27 appearance in Pasadena Superior Court on a variety of charges. Monrovia police officers responding to a report of shots fired in the 100 block of East Los Angeles Avenue, March 29 found a Black man suffering from two gunshot wounds. The unidentified victim was shot in the upper and lower torso, according to Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The shooting was first reported at 5:25 p.m., Koerner told SGV CityWatch. It is not yet clear if the shooting is gang-related. The neighborhood was the unfortunate host to a similar shooting exactly two months ago to the day when a man, Covina resident Terry Alford, was gunned down on the front yard of a home January 29. The woman was pronounced dead by Monrovia firefighters arriving to a medical emergency call in the 1000 block of Wildrose Avenue just after 9 p.m. February 8. In a previous statement, homicide detectives said the victim, only described as a white adult female, suffered from stab wounds and that a second woman was a possible suspect, but no mention of a suspect was made in a subsequent statement. The cause of death will be determined by a coroner examination, homicide detectives said. |
