The incident was reported in the 100 block of East Olive Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, February 3. While receiving reports of gunfire, Monrovia dispatchers were also being told of a fight at the same location, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The victim was found in the rear parking lot of the business. He suffered apparent gunshot wounds to the upper torso. Monrovia firefighter paramedics treated the victim at the scene and transported him to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. First responders were called to the area of South Alta Vista Avenue and West Central Avenue around 6:38 p.m. to a call of gunfire. Officers learned during the road rage, a driver shot at the other vehicle numerous times, according to the Monrovia Police Department. A suspect, nor a vehicle description were readily available. The Monrovia Police Department received several 911 calls about shots fired at the cemetery, 200 East Duarte Rd., at 1:41 p.m. Saturday, August 26. Responding officers located a suspect vehicle, the driver of which refused to pull over, according to Monrovia Police Lt. John Donchig. According to Monrovia Police Department radio traffic, the high-speed pursuit went southbound on California Avenue from the cemetery and reached speeds of around 60 miles per hour. “Eventually the pursuit was terminated for safety reasons,” Donchig told SGV CityWatch. Donchig declined to provide more details as the investigation continues. Investigators are still trying to learn what possessed the man to fire his weapon from inside his residence into the neighboring home. The suspect was found about a block away from the scene and was taken into custody without further incident, according to Sgt. Harvey of the Monrovia Police Department. Police received multiple calls of gunfire in the 1400 block of South Alta Vista Avenue around 3:28 a.m. “There were shots fired from within one house and into another house, so the rounds went through the door and into another location where people were living,” Harvey told SGV CityWatch. The victims were asleep when the shots were fired. The weapon was recovered, Harvey told SGV CityWatch. William Patrick James O’Brien, a 37-year-old Monrovia man was booked on suspicion of shooting in a grossly negligent manner. He is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail ahead of a scheduled appearance in Pasadena Municipal Court November 18. Terry Alford, 46, was shot and killed by two gunmen who hopped a fence and snuck up from behind January 29, 2021. Alford died at the scene. The two gunmen were accompanied by two others. All four suspects remain at-large, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. Alford was shot and killed on the front porch of a residence in the 100 block of Los Angeles Avenue just after 5 p.m. Previously, homicide detectives believed the shooting to be gang related. A 17-year-old male was arrested April upon his release from the Pasadena City jail April 15. Tanaj Johnson, 20, was arrested April 19 as he was released from the Pasadena jail on an unrelated charge. Christian Hall, 20, had been arrested May 23 by Pasadena Police Department on an unrelated charge and is being held without bail, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Darione Jones, 25, was murdered March 29 in the 100 block of East Los Angeles Avenue just before 5:30 p.m. Detectives with the Monrovia and Pasadena Police Departments aided Sheriff’s homicide investigators with identifying the suspects. The Eastlake District Attorney’s Office filed one count of murder against the teen with the allegation he personally used a firearm, the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office Community Violence Reduction Division filed one count of murder against Tanaj Johnson April 21 with the allegation that he personally used a firearm and one count of animal cruelty because he shot a dog during the Monrovia shooting, the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said. Johnson was also named a suspect in the February 14 shooting of a 10-year-old boy in Pasadena, Pasadena Police said. The DA’s Community Violence Reduction Division filed one count of murder against Christian Hall May 25 with the allegation he personally used a firearm, the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said. Hall is being held without bail ahead an appearance in Pasadena Superior Court June 3. Johnson is being held in lieu of nearly $4 million bail ahead of a May 27 appearance in Pasadena Superior Court on a variety of charges. Monrovia police officers responding to a report of shots fired in the 100 block of East Los Angeles Avenue, March 29 found a Black man suffering from two gunshot wounds. The unidentified victim was shot in the upper and lower torso, according to Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The shooting was first reported at 5:25 p.m., Koerner told SGV CityWatch. It is not yet clear if the shooting is gang-related. The neighborhood was the unfortunate host to a similar shooting exactly two months ago to the day when a man, Covina resident Terry Alford, was gunned down on the front yard of a home January 29. Deon Armstrong-Williams, 25, from Duarte and Trayvon Dixon, 21, from Azusa were arrested January 28. The case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office which filed murder charges against the suspects, according to the Monrovia Police Department. Antonio Zaza, 27, was gunned down inside of Al’s Liquor, 412 W. Duarte Rd., around 8:20 p.m. December 23. Zaza died of a gunshot wound to the torso at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Both Dixon and Williams are being held ahead of a scheduled appearance in Pasadena Superior Court February 8.
