The crash occurred at Duarte Road and Fifth Avenue just after 7:30 p.m. September 8. First responders said the vehicle was fully engulfed with flames when they arrived, according to the Monrovia Police Department. First responders extricated burn victims from the vehicle. One of those victims was a child who suffered life-threatening injuries. The child died after being treated at Los Angeles General Medical Center, according to the Monrovia Police Department. It is not publicly clear what may have caused of the crash. The condition of any other surviving victims is not publicly known. The Arcadia Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team assisted with this collision investigation. MONROVIA - At least one person was taken to a hospital after a multi-vehicle crash involving a big rig occurred Friday. Lanes 3 through 5 of the east 210 freeway just east of Buena Vista Street will be closed for an unknown duration. The HOV lane remains open, according to the California Highway Patrol. Officers first responded to the multi vehicle collision at 5:47 a.m. January 14 for a motorcyclist down in the slow lane. A big rig involved reportedly began catching fire as officers were dispatched and possibly one other vehicle was already fully engulfed, according to CHP traffic logs. A motorcycle became lodged underneath the trailer the semi was hauling. Officers called for a heavy duty tow truck to lift the trailer off of the motorcycle. The extent of injuries is not publicly clear. |
