CityWatch Editor MONROVIA - The woman who pulled the trigger and shot dead her ex during an armed confrontation in Monrovia did so in self defense, investigators said. The shooting took place in the 400 block of South Shamrock Avenue just before 9:30 p.m. May 17. The suspect, who has not been publicly identified, allegedly arrived to his ex’s residence armed with multiple knives and attempted to stab his ex and another male at the location, according to Lt. Patricia Thomas of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. Monrovia Police initially responded to the house on a reported restraining order violation call. Once they arrived they found an Asian man suffering a gunshot wound to the front of the residence. Monrovia Fire Department paramedics arrived and soon declared the man deceased at the scene, Thomas told SGV CityWatch. A firearm and multiple knives were recovered. The man who was shot and the woman who pulled the trigger were in a prior dating relationship, Thomas told SGV CityWatch. It was the woman who had called police to the scene. She and her male companion voluntarily went to the Monrovia Police Department and provided statements to authorities before homicide detectives took over the investigation, Thomas told SGV. “The female adult and male adult were cooperative, provided voluntary statements and were not arrested,” Thomas told SGV CityWatch. |
