BREAKING NEWS: Shooting Being Investigated in Montebello

MONTEBELLO - One shooting victim was hospitalized and a suspect was also found shot Tuesday night.

The crime scene is set up in the 800 block of West Mines Avenue. The victim’s condition is not publicly known.

Police arrived on scene around 7:45 p.m. and located the victim. Witnesses immediately physically identified the suspect and told officers he fled towards Montebello Boulevard. A gray Chevrolet SUV was described as a getaway vehicle, according to Montebello Police radio traffic.

At 8 p.m., officers located the Chevy SUV near 545 S. Montebello Avenue. Nine minutes later, officers discovered the suspect inside the SUV. He suffered what was initially described as a gunshot wound to the head.

The motive for the shooting is not publicly known.

Montebello Police are receiving mutual aid assistance from Monterey Park and from nearby Sheriff’s stations to contain the crime scene.
