Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor MONTEBELLO - A man with a no-bail warrant was arrested after he fled from police searching for an entirely different suspect Wednesday.
Officers from the Montebello Police Special Problems Unit were originally searching for a man wanted for attempted murder in the riverbed near Slauson Avenue and Telegraph Road when a man matching the suspect’s description fled from searching officers, according to Sgt. Mark Marty of the Montebello Police Department. A containment was established and a San Gabriel Police K9 unit also responded to search. The suspect was found hiding in the riverbed, but refused to surrender after several orders were given, Marty said. The San Gabriel Police K9 was deployed and subdued the suspect, who was later hospitalized for his wounds. The suspect police detained was not the attempted murder suspect sought by Montebello units, Marty said, but he was booked after being hospitalized due to his outstanding warrant. The suspect was booked and transported to a county jail for housing. A Montebello Police supervisor was not available to provide booking information. |
