Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor MONTEBELLO - An assault with a deadly weapon suspect escaped capture Monday after fleeing East Los Angeles deputies in an unrelated investigation.
The suspect is wanted in connection with a restaurant shooting that took place August 18, according to Detective Sgt. Jennifer Carrera of the Montebello Police Department. The shooting at Mariscos El Bravo, 1125 Washington Blvd., left one victim badly injured around 1 a.m. Montebello Police chased a blood-stained vehicle to County/USC Medical Center, finally realizing a shooting victim was being taken by an acquaintance. Montebello detectives were searching for the suspect in East Los Angeles near South Ford Boulevard and Whittier Boulevard around 11 a.m. As Montebello detectives arrived to the area, they witnessed East Los Angeles deputies chasing after the suspect on foot after he reportedly fled deputies who tried to stop him for an unrelated incident, Carrera said. Carrera was unwilling to provide a suspect description because the investigation is still ongoing. |
