Thomas Lawrence Potter, 52, was identified during the follow-up investigation. He was located and arrested without incident at 3:06 p.m. January 25, according to the Monterey Park Police Department. Potter was booked on suspicion of felony hit and run causing injuries. He is being held in lieu of $50,000. He is scheduled to appear in Alhambra Superior Court Monday.
Potter and his passenger were in a light-colored SUV when the pedestrian was struck mid-block in the 100 block of West Newmark Avenue just before 7:30 p.m. January 18, according to the Monterey Park Police Department. The suspect driver and his passenger were in a light-colored SUV when the pedestrian was struck mid-block in the 100 block of West Newmark Avenue just before 7:30 p.m., according to the Monterey Park Police Department. The female pedestrian remains in critical condition.
The SUV fled west on Newmark Avenue to northbound Ramona Avenue. The collision was reported around 7:26 p.m. in the 100 block of West Newmark Avenue. The pedestrian was crossing mid-block when a light-colored SUV with chrome rims approached westbound and hit the woman, according to the Monterey Park Police Department. The woman’s condition was not disclosed.

Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor MONTEREY PARK – A suspicious item forced precautionary evacuations of some stores at Altantic Square Monday. The Sheriff’s Arson/Explosives Detail responded to the 2000 block of South Atlantic Boulevard around 11:30 a.m. January 21. The suspicious item was found behind a store, but Deputy Trina Schrader of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau did not know which store. The unknown item didn't belong to anyone and it was fixed to a wall, according to Lt. Eric Kim of the Monterey Park Police Department. Ralph's was one of the evacuated stores, Kim said. The package was examined and deemed safe. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor MONTEREY PARK – A Rosemead man and Compton man were arrested the same evening after allegedly burglarizing a vehicle January 3. Rosemead man Jesus Orozco, 27, and Compton man Robert Milinkovich, 25, were arrested at a Rosemead residence after officers were able to identify them in connection with a vehicle burglary.
Police were called just before 8 a.m. to the 300 block of West Garvey Avenue to investigate the vehicle burglary.
“The subsequent investigation led to the identification and arrest of two suspects later that evening in the City of Rosemead,” Monterey Park Police said in a written statement. Orozco was booked on suspicion of auto burglary and identity theft. He is being held without bail due to a probation hold, Monterey Park Police said. Milinkovich was booked on suspicion of auto burglary. His bail is set at $20,000. Both men have since appeared in Alhambra Superior Court. |
