MONTEREY PARK - A man and woman were arrested during a traffic stop and found with stolen property after a vigilant resident witnessed the couple looking into homes.
The couple, identified as Jorge Favella and Lorraine Mendoza of Los Angeles, were seen just after 8 a.m. April 11 in the 1100 block of Dover Way. One of the suspects was witnessed entering a yard from the rear of the property and emerged later with items in hand, according to the Monterey Park Police Department.
The couple was stopped after reportedly attempting to flee in the vehicle. Officers found stolen property inside their vehicle. After the couple was arrested, officers then discovered evidence of two additional home burglaries, Monterey Park Police said.
Favela, 41, was booked on suspicion of residential burglary. He is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Mendoza, 49, was also booked on suspicion of residential burglary. She is being held without bail, incidentally for having an outstanding no-bail warrant for residential burglary.
The couple were scheduled for an appearance in Alhambra Superior Court Tuesday, April 14.
