Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor MONTEREY PARK - A man and woman were arrested during a traffic stop and found with stolen property after a vigilant resident witnessed the couple looking into homes.
The couple, identified as Jorge Favella and Lorraine Mendoza of Los Angeles, were seen just after 8 a.m. April 11 in the 1100 block of Dover Way. One of the suspects was witnessed entering a yard from the rear of the property and emerged later with items in hand, according to the Monterey Park Police Department. The couple was stopped after reportedly attempting to flee in the vehicle. Officers found stolen property inside their vehicle. After the couple was arrested, officers then discovered evidence of two additional home burglaries, Monterey Park Police said. Favela, 41, was booked on suspicion of residential burglary. He is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail. Mendoza, 49, was also booked on suspicion of residential burglary. She is being held without bail, incidentally for having an outstanding no-bail warrant for residential burglary. The couple were scheduled for an appearance in Alhambra Superior Court Tuesday, April 14. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor MONTEREY PARK - Suspected catalytic converter thieves fled Monterey Park Police in two different vehicles, setting off a police pursuit and two crashes, with one suspect dying at the scene. Police attempted to contact two men opening vehicle doors parked at a closed business January 5 in the 700 block of Monterey Pass Road around 5:22 p.m. A gold Nissan fled the scene and rammed a patrol car to exit the property, Monterey Park Police said. The Nissan driver got away. Officers soon began pursuing a black Mercedes that also fled the scene, Monterey Park Police said. The Mercedes fled north on Monterey Pass Road, lost control, struck a curb and crashed. Both occupants in the Mercedes were hospitalized for their injuries. While detaining the two suspects, an overturned Nissan was discovered across the street after it hit a concrete wall. The driver was partially ejected and died at the scene, Monterey Park Police said.
The arrested suspects were identified as 25-year-old Huntington Park resident Diego Ramirez and 31-year-old Wendy Mireles of Pico Rivera. Ramirez and Mireles were both booked on suspicion of attempted grand theft. Ramirez was additionally booked on suspicion of felony evading, vandalism and trespassing. Both suspects are scheduled for an appearance in Alhambra Superior Court Tuesday, January 7. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LOS ANGELES - Four burglary suspects with extensive criminal histories were arrested October 2 after deputies witnessed them allegedly burglarizing a home. Deputies with the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau and Burglary-Robbery Task Force witnessed the crime unfold around 1 p.m. somewhere along Floral Drive After seeing a white Mercedes-Benz SUV and silver Chevrolet SUV moving slowly and suspiciously, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said. Detectives found the Mercedes-Benz parked on Floral Drive and witnessed the driver approach a home and knock on the front door. The driver returned to the his vehicle while two suspects in the Chevy SUV arrived and gained access to the home’s rear yard after no one answered, the Sheriff’s Department said. The two suspects who entered the yard were witnessed exiting the front door of the home. Both vehicles fled the location simultaneously, the Sheriff’s Department said. “Detectives quickly confirmed a burglary had in fact occurred, with a rear window forced open and interior of the home ransacked,” the Sheriff’s Department said. The suspects who burglarized the home and their driver were stopped and arrested by Sheriff’s deputies with assistance from Monterey Park Police.
Detectives recovered stolen jewelry, currency, and a police radio scanner, from within the Chevy SUV, the Sheriff’s Department said. The driver of the Mercedes-Benz SUV fled the area, but was located and arrested in Vernon. Arrested were: The driver of the Chevy SUV, 37-year-old Kevin Green of Los Angeles, was booked on suspicion of residential burglary. Green has a significant criminal history including arrests for burglary and narcotics violations. He is a previously convicted felon, a documented criminal street gang member, and could face over 20 years in prison if convicted for these new crimes. 40-year-old William Robinson of Los Angeles was previously out of custody on “parole” for burglary. He was booked on suspicion of residential burglary and possession of burglary tools. Robinson has a significant criminal history including arrests for residential burglary and narcotics sales. He has multiple felony convictions and would likely be a “Third Strike” candidate facing life in prison upon additional conviction. He is also a documented South Los Angeles criminal street gang member. Kedrick Daniels, a 42-year-old Los Angeles man, was charged with residential burglary. Daniels has an extensive criminal history including arrests for theft, conspiracy, narcotics and weapons violations. He is facing in excess of 20 years in prison if convicted for this crime. Daniels is a documented Los Angeles criminal street gang member. Driver Frank Tisby, a 32-year-old Los Angeles man, was booked on suspicion of residential burglary. Tisby has a significant criminal history and is a twice-convicted residential burglar. He is facing a “Third Strike” and life in prison if convicted for this charge. Tisby is a documented South Los Angeles criminal street gang member. All suspects are suspected of numerous burglaries throughout Southern California. Sheriff’s detectives and the Monterey Park Police Department both handled the criminal case filing. Three of the suspects appeared in Alhambra Superior Court October 6 and are being held in excess of $1 million bail. A fourth suspect, Green, bonded out. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor MONTEREY PARK - Police made quick work of a pair of accused home burglars caught leaving the scene Monday. Police were alerted to a home burglary in progress in the 1200 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 7:21 a.m. Shortly after arriving, police found and detained 32-year-old Raul Ceja and 24-year-old Analleli Geray.
Officers further investigated the duo and confirmed their involvement in the burglary, Monterey Park Police said. Ceja, a Los Angeles resident, and Geray, a South Gate resident, were both booked on suspicion of residential burglary and held in lieu of $50,000 bail. The suspects made an initial court appearance February 27. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor MONTEREY PARK – A Rosemead man and Compton man were arrested the same evening after allegedly burglarizing a vehicle January 3. Rosemead man Jesus Orozco, 27, and Compton man Robert Milinkovich, 25, were arrested at a Rosemead residence after officers were able to identify them in connection with a vehicle burglary.
Police were called just before 8 a.m. to the 300 block of West Garvey Avenue to investigate the vehicle burglary.
“The subsequent investigation led to the identification and arrest of two suspects later that evening in the City of Rosemead,” Monterey Park Police said in a written statement. Orozco was booked on suspicion of auto burglary and identity theft. He is being held without bail due to a probation hold, Monterey Park Police said. Milinkovich was booked on suspicion of auto burglary. His bail is set at $20,000. Both men have since appeared in Alhambra Superior Court. The property was discovered during a traffic stop in the 2000 block of South Atlantic Boulevard around 2:25 a.m. The property was taken from vehicles that same night, according to Sgt. Rick Munder of the Monterey Park Police Department. Arrested were 31-year-old Luis Flores, 25-year-old Claudia Moreno and 26-year-old Adrian Molina. All are residents of Los Angeles. It was not divulged how many vehicles were burglarized, or what prompted the traffic stop. The three men were stopped by an officer for a traffic violation at Crest Vista Drive and Brightwood Street around 10:30 a.m. A separate home burglary investigation was being conducted nearby in the 1200 block of West Crest Vista Drive, Monterey Park Police said in a written statement. “The officer located evidence at the scene of the burglary that linked the three occupants of the vehicle stopped at Crest Vista and Brightwood to the residential burglary,” Monterey Park Police said. After further investigation, Tony Dieson Johnson, 23, Jerry Ronnie Green, 27 and Antonio Maurice Sutton, 19, were all booked on suspicion of burglary. All three men have prior burglary arrests, Monterey Park Police said. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed burglary charges against all three men August 9 and all three men have since appeared in Alhambra Superior Court. Los Angeles men Timothy Carver Johnson, 52, and Otis Lee Wishum, 63, were arrested during the traffic stop around 2 a.m. in the area of Atlantic Boulevard and Garvey Avenue. The officer recognized them and their vehicle as being involved in commercial burglaries since February 2018, Monterey Park Police said. A follow up investigation revealed the number of commercial burglaries the suspects are linked to and their criminal past, which were described as extensive, with multiple burglary arrests, Monterey Park Police said. Johnson’s arrest records date back to 1985. Wishum’s arret record dates as far back as 1969, Monterey Park Police said. The three suspects entered a rear yard and smashed through a sliding glass door just after 4 p.m. in the 100 block of Roca Way. The three suspects fled the home as Monterey Park Police arrived. The suspects ran through neighboring yards, Monterey Park Police said. All three suspects were quickly apprehended, Monterey Park Police said. Arrested were Bryant Burnett, 26, Tywan Brown, 20 and Tyeron Jennings, 19. All three were booked on suspicion of burglary. Burnett and Jennings posted bond. Brown is still being held in lieu of $100,000 and is awaiting an initial appearance at Alhambra Superior Court March 23. |
