Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor MONTEREY PARK – One person died in a crash on the westbound 60 freeway at Markland Drive early Wednesday morning.
The crash was reported to the California Highway Patrol at 2:08 a.m. April 28. It is not yet clear how the crash occurred, but initially a passerby reported a blacked out vehicle stopped in the middle lanes and an occupant standing outside the vehicle at 2:09 a.m. it is unclear when the person was hit, within an hour, CHP officers were requesting the coroner and that all lanes be shut down, according to CHP traffic logs. The CHP was also told of a vehicle stalled in the HOV lane after possibly hitting the center divider at 2:09 a.m. A person initially believed to be the driver fled to the right shoulder. At 2:35 a.m. all westbound lanes were closed, but by 2:47 a.m. the No. 5 lane was opened. By 5:14 a.m., all lanes were reopened. |
