CityWatch Editor MONTEREY PARK - Four suspects were jailed, accused of a kidnapping and ransom plot in which a male victim was taken March 12. Officers determined the victim was kidnapped from his home in the 100 block of East Hellman Avenue, threatened, assaulted and held for ransom, according to the Monterey Park Police Department. Police were called around 4:48 a.m. March 12 to check on the victim. Officers determined a kidnapping occurred there. “The victim was ultimately released after a ransom was paid to the suspects. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the incident,” according to the Monterey Park Police Department in a written statement. The four suspects were arrested March 12:
Each suspect was booked on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a crime, kidnapping and false imprisonment by violence. The four suspects have since appeared in Alhambra Superior Court and are scheduled for a preliminary hearing April 30. A fifth suspect is sought.
