The subsequent search warrant yielded the above evidence including four arrests.
Surveillance footage helped identify several suspects driving away after the gunfire erupted. April 17, Los Angeles Police officers began pursuing one of the vehicles involved in the shooting. The televised pursuit ended at Hellman Avenue and Atlantic Boulevard in Monterey Park. Four suspects fled the vehicle, but were all found and arrested. Two handguns believed to be used in the April 15 shooting were recovered, Monterey Park Police said. April 18, an additional suspect, 28-year-old Johhny Nguyen, was arrested at his El Monte home around 8 p.m. A vehicle parked at his home was damaged with bullet holes, El Monte Police said. Nguyen was booked on suspicion of identity theft, possession for sales of narcotics, being armed with a firearm while selling narcotics, selling narcotics from a fortified location, conspiracy (street terrorism and illegal gambling) and being a member of a criminal street gang. All nine suspects, who have ties to San Gabriel Valley gangs, are scheduled to appear in Alhambra Superior Court April 30. |
