PASADENA - Police published a community briefing on the officer-involved shooting that occurred January 11.
The video shows officers attempting to stop and contact Brandon Green, 29, a known gang member sought for an outstanding drug warrant. Green fled when an undercover police vehicle stops in front of him, according to video released by the Pasadena Police Department. Green fled from officers in the 1800 block of North Raymond January 11, 2018 at 3:30 p.m. During a foot pursuit, Green pulled out a handgun. Officers then opened fire.
Green was uninjured in the shooting. His handgun was recovered at the scene and he was later arrested and booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer and an outstanding warrant.
No police officers were injured in the shooting. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor PASADENA - A resident who chased three home burglars Sunday was cut by one of the suspects while trying to retrieve a stolen laptop. The resident was injured at the Gold Line Allen Station after chasing one suspect to the turnstiles from his home around 10:14 p.m. January 27. The victim, a 25-year-old man, entered his home through the back door, laid the laptop on a counter and used the bathroom. When he exited, he saw the three burglars, Pasadena Police said. The resident saw laptop was gone from the counter as the suspects fled the home in the 1700 block of Wagner Street, Pasadena Police said. Two suspects broke away during the chase and fled on Maple Street.
After the victim caught up to a suspect at the Allen Station, he asked for his laptop back and offered to pay for it. The suspect then cut the victim with a knife, causing minor lacerations to an elbow and his back, Pasadena Police said. The suspect likely boarded a Gold Line train. The direction was not stated. The suspect with the knife is a Hispanic man in his early 20s, stands 5 feet 9 inches tall and has acne. He wore a green backpack. The two other suspects are Hispanic men, only described as thin, Pasadena Police said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor PASADENA - Police are still on the trail of an accused suspect who, along with two accomplices, may have committed at least 10 commercial burglaries. The suspect in the above photo worked with two other burglary suspects in hitting commercial properties along Colorado Boulevard from northwest Pasadena to Eagle Rock January 5, according to the Pasadena Police Department. Los Angeles men Juan Manuel Morales, 19, and Kiyonte Levell Sowell, 18, were arrested January 18 after deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Compton Station detained them, Pasadena Police said.
Pasadena Police detectives worked with the Los Angeles Police Department on the case. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed 10 counts of second-degree commercial burglary against Morales and Sowell January 24. Arraignment was held the same day, Pasadena Police said. Morales is being held in lieu of $200,000 bail. Sowell’s bail is set at $100,000. A preliminary court hearing is scheduled for March 3. The officer-involved shooting occurred around 4:36 p.m. in the 1900 block of North Raymond Avenue January 11. No officers were injured in the shooting and the suspect was not hit by gunfire, according to Lt. Jason Clawson of the Pasadena Police Department.
Clawson was not yet notified of the circumstances that led to the gunfire.
The suspect is in custody and his handgun is recovered, Clawson said. Traffic at the scene is being impacted near North Raymond and East Tremont Street. Clawson advises motorists to avoid the area. |
