Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor PASADENA - Two men took off in a woman’s 2015 dark grey Honda CRV after distracting her and physically pulling her out of her vehicle, police said. The incident unfolded just before 12:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of Locust Street March 30. Two men approached the woman and walked into the street as she was driving home and pointed to her front bumper as if to warn her of something, according to Lt. Marcia Taglioretti of the Pasadena Police Department. The woman leaned out of her CRV to see what the problem could be and one suspect pulled out a firearm, Taglioretti said. “The suspect pointed it at the victim and told her to get out,” Taglioretti said. “The second suspect went around the passenger side and got in. The suspect with the gun pulled the victim away from the vehicle.”
The suspect drove away with the victim’s CRV. The victim was uninjured, Taglioretti said. The suspects were Black men in their early 20s. One suspect stood around 6 feet tall, weighed 180 pounds, is clean shaven, has short black hair and wore a black long-sleeve shirt and blue jeans. The second suspect also stood around 6 feet tall, weighs 190 pounds, has short black hair, is clean shaven and wore blue jeans and tennis shoes. The CRV license plate is 7JWG441. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor PASADENA - An 85-year-old man has not been seen since Wednesday night after he left his senior care facility. Conrad Foster was last seen at the facility, 245 S. EL Molino Ave., March 27. Foster suffers from Dementia and requires daily medication, Pasadena Police said. Foster is 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs 160 pounds, has brown eyes, is bald and his eyes are noticeably crossed.

Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor PASADENA - Police made 19 total arrests including four on suspicion of DUI at a DUI/driver license checkpoint Friday, March 22. Fourteen people were arrested on suspicion of driving on a revoked or suspended license, four on suspicion of DUI and one driver was arrested on an outstanding warrant, Pasadena Police said. The checkpoint was conducted at Arroyo Parkway and Cordova Street.

Checkpoint locations are based on collision statistics and the frequency of DUI arrests, the Pasadena Police Department said. “Pasadena Police Department wants to remind everyone that ‘DUI Doesn’t Just Mean Booze.’ Prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications and marijuana can all be impairing, especially in combination with alcohol or other drugs,” Pasadena Police said.
In Pasadena last year there were 84 DUI collisions which took one life and injured 58 people, Pasadena Police said. “This is our fourth DUI operation rounding out the month of March. DUI arrests are completely preventable. Telly Johnson, 41, was taken into custody at a residence in the 1900 block of Cordova Street just before 9:30 p.m. March 1 in Los Angeles. Pasadena detectives asked the U.S. Marshals Service Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force to conduct surveillance on the location, according to the Pasadena Police Department. Pasadena detectives served a search warrant at the Los Angeles home and took Johnson into custody without incident.
Johnson was booked on suspicion of murdering Byron Young Nettles, 52, who was attacked outside the apartment he lived in and managed, the Pasadena Police Department said. The stabbing occurred just after 9 a.m. March 1 in the 100 block of South Euclid Avenue. Nettles was transported to a hospital where he later died. Johnson fled after the attack, prompting a lengthy search in surrounding neighborhoods and the lockdown of nearby Mayfield Junior High School. Pasadena detectives believe the stabbing was not a random act and are establishing a connection between Nettles and Johnson as well as a motive. Johnson is being held in lieu of $2 million. County booking information did not reveal an impending court date. The announcement ending the shelter-in-place order was given at 2:53 p.m. The stabbing victim remains in critical condition. Police searched at-length around South Euclid Avenue from Green Street to California Boulevard from north to south and Los Robles Avenue to Marengo Avenue from east to west.
