The Apartment fire was reported on the second story of a complex in the 20 block of West Montana around 3:36 p.m. July 24. Firefighters were able to save a dog after two guinea pigs and a bird were killed, according to the Pasadena Fire Department. A cause of the fire is either not known or was not disclosed. Police responding to a call of gunfire around 1:26 a.m. made the discovery in the 300 block of East Villa Street, according to Lt. Max Dahlstein of the Pasadena Police Department. The victim was only described as a 35-year-old Hispanic man. No suspect description or motive is known. Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call Pasadena Police Department Lt. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor PASADENA - A teen boy confessed to investigators Tuesday that he punched his 2-year-old child in the abdomen and killed him, police said.
The killing occurred Sunday, February 11. Pasadena Police responded to a home in the 1600 block of Kenneth Way for a child not breathing. Pasadena Firefighters arrived to care for the child who was declared dead at the scene, Pasadena Police said. Continuing to work the case, Pasadena Police detectives interviewed the child’s father again July 10 when he confessed to the crime, police said. The suspect struck Brandon Blackburn with his fist several times. A coroner examination revealed the child suffered from blunt force trauma to the abdomen, Pasadena Police said. The case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office who filed one count of homicide and one count of assault resulting in the death of a child under 8 years old. The unnamed suspect is being held without bail.

PASADENA - County firefighters made quick work of a small vegetation fire that burned near a Sprouts Farmers Market in the county area near Pasadena Wednesday.
The fire was dispatched to county firefighters at 11:07 a.m. near the Sprouts, 39 N. Rosemead Blvd., and the 210 freeway. Firefighters remained on scene for at least 40 minutes, according to Dispatch Supervisor Martin Rangel of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The fire’s cause is being investigated.

The burglars were caught on camera just before 6 a.m. in the 1300 block of North Lake Avenue June 8. The suspects forced their way into the business and took $7,000, Pasadena Police said. The teens, Elizabeth Mendoza, 13, and Alejandra Iglesias, 17, are developmentally disabled and are possibly using public transportation to get to their destination, Pasadena Police said in a written statement. As many as five vehicles are involved in the collision, which was reported at 9:34 a.m. Two vehicle overturned in the collision. The Sig Alert ends in one hour, according to the California Highway Patrol. It is unclear how many occupants have been injured. Passing drivers stopped to help extract people from the overturned vehicles, the CHP said. |
