Betz is 5 feet 2 inches tall, 123 pounds and was last seen wearing a white long sleeve shirt and brown floral-print skirt. A person walking a trail below the bridge, 504 W. Colorado Blvd. discovered the dead man around 8:02 a.m., according to Lt. Max Dahlstein of the Pasadena Police Department. Pasadena officials installed temporary fencing along the bridge in 2017 as a temporary measure to prevent suicides while a more permanent measure was being considered. Dalhstein said the man likely climbed the fence by accessing a cutaway portion in the temporary barrier where benches are placed. The 40-something victim turned up at a Huntington Memorial Hospital around 9 p.m. Hospital staff notified police of the shooting victim, according to the Pasadena Police Department. Despite the victim being uncooperative with detectives, officers learned the shooting took place at Holliston Avenue and Tyler Avenue around 8:45 p.m., Pasadena Police said. Both men entered the store, 3415 E. Foothill Blvd. and loitered around the phone display before one of the suspects removed a silver 64GB iPhone X, according to Pasadena Police. Both men walked out of the store. The suspects are described as either Middle Eastern or Hispanic. The first suspect has a light complexion and wore a black and white pattern t-shirt with skinny blue jeans and black shoes. The second suspect has a medium build, a beard, wore a multi-colored button shirt, burgundy shorts and black shoes. The shooting took place near a Pasadena-based location for defense contractor Parsons Corp. in the 100 block of West Walnut Avenue around 5 p.m. Several vehicles were involved in the shooting, causing a collision. Bullet holes could be seen peppering the hood of one vehicle at the scene. Glendale officers were conducting an undisclosed investigation with the help of the U.S. Marshals. One suspect was hospitalized with non-life-threatening wounds, according to the Glendale Police Department. No officers or other civilians were hit by gunfire. The teen was distracted by the first suspect, who knocked on the door and asked for directions in the 2800 block of Thorndike Road around 7:09 p.m. As the teen assisted the first suspect, the three others pried their way in through a rear door, Pasadena Police said. The first suspect revealed a handgun while the three others ransacked the home for several minutes, Pasadena Police said. The four suspects fled with an unknown loss. All four suspects are Black men in their 20s and all wore dark clothing. The three suspects were caught on camera as they entered the cell phone store in the 100 block of South Lake Avenue around 7:22 p.m., according to the Pasadena Police Department. The suspects fled in a four-door Volkswagen Jetta north on Lake Avenue. The Jetta had no license plates, Pasadena Police said. The first suspect is a male Black in his 20s, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, 180 to 200 pounds, has a dark complexion with a chin shrub goatee and light mustache. He wore a gray-patterned, zip-up, camouflage hoodie with white and dark trim and dark-colored pants. The second suspect is a male Black in his 20s, 6 feet to 6 feet one inch tall, 180 pounds, has a dark complexion, is clean-shaven and he wore a light gray Champion hoodie with large white "C" on the chest and "Champion" logo over the "C" and gray pants. The third suspect was only described as a male Black in a dark hoodie. The body, which has not yet been identified by coroner officials, was found on a hiking trail by a searching Pasadena Police helicopter. A car linked to a recent missing persons case was found parked near the casting club, 415 S. Arroyo Ave., according to the Pasadena Police Department. Pasadena Police volunteers discovered the vehicle linked to the missing man. The body was discovered about an hour later, said Pasadena Police lieutenant Marie Sell. The man was reported missing to Pasadena Police August 9. Police knew he was still in the area after discovering he made a purchase at a Pasadena store during his disappearance, Sell said. Officers tracked the missing man’s phone to the general area August 9 where the body was discovered, but could not locate him after an extensive search, Sell said. The cause of death will be determined by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner, but a preliminary investigation suggests no foul play, Sell said. |
