BREAKING NEWS: Driver Dead in Fiery Crash on 210 Freeway

PASADENA - All lanes of the transition road from the westbound 210 freeway to the westbound 134 freeway will be closed for an unknown duration after a SUV slammed into the back of a big rig and burst into flames.

A 20-foot box truck was apparently disabled and blocking middle lanes when the vehicle slammed into the rear of it and caught fire around 4:13 a.m. April 13, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The SUV was apparently speeding just before the crash, CHP dispatch center was told.

At least one person was discovered inside the burned out white SUV and was, as officers on scene described, “severely burned.”

The traffic closure is beginning on the westbound 210 freeway at Lake Avenue. The HOV and No. 1, 2 and 3 lanes of the main line 210 freeway westbound are open to traffic.

The CHP has requested as many as three tow trucks in order to remove the SUV from underneath the box truck.
