Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor PASADENA - A resident who chased three home burglars Sunday was cut by one of the suspects while trying to retrieve a stolen laptop. The resident was injured at the Gold Line Allen Station after chasing one suspect to the turnstiles from his home around 10:14 p.m. January 27. The victim, a 25-year-old man, entered his home through the back door, laid the laptop on a counter and used the bathroom. When he exited, he saw the three burglars, Pasadena Police said. The resident saw laptop was gone from the counter as the suspects fled the home in the 1700 block of Wagner Street, Pasadena Police said. Two suspects broke away during the chase and fled on Maple Street.
After the victim caught up to a suspect at the Allen Station, he asked for his laptop back and offered to pay for it. The suspect then cut the victim with a knife, causing minor lacerations to an elbow and his back, Pasadena Police said. The suspect likely boarded a Gold Line train. The direction was not stated. The suspect with the knife is a Hispanic man in his early 20s, stands 5 feet 9 inches tall and has acne. He wore a green backpack. The two other suspects are Hispanic men, only described as thin, Pasadena Police said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor PASADENA - A 45-minute neighborhood search yielded a burglary suspect who stole the bank keys to a Chase Bank and made his way inside, Police said Wednesday.
The unidentified suspect burglarized the vehicle to a Chase Bank employee who lives in Arcadia, obtained the keys to the Bank located near California Boulevard and Pasadena Avenue and entered around 7:30 p.m., according to the Pasadena Police Department. The Chase Bank corporate offices alerted police to the burglary inside the bank. The suspect searched through employee desks when Pasadena officers arrived and located the suspect inside the bank. The suspect fled on foot into a nearby neighborhood and sparked a lengthy search. The suspect was apprehended and a search of his person revealed the bank keys in his pocket, Pasadena Police said. The suspect also stole identification and credit cards belonging to the bank employee, Pasadena Police said. It was unclear how the suspect knew the stolen keys would work at that particular bank. The suspect pried open an entire panel of secured mailboxes affixed to a wall in the 30 block of South Wilson Avenue and stole various pieces of mail, according to the Pasadena Police Department. The suspect quickly fled the apartment complex. The suspect is described as a male Hispanic in his late 20s, 5-foot-6 to 5 feet 8 inches tall, 160 pounds, has a light to medium complexion and has a thin mustache. He wore a backwards Los Angeles Dodgers hat, a dark shirt and vest, dark shorts and black and white tennis shoes. The suspects were caught on a Ring door camera in the 100 block of Bush Garden Road around 5:30 p.m. A man approached the porch Thursday, October 4 and left with the package, Pasadena Police said. The suspect left with an accomplice. The suspect is a Hispanic man, 25 to 30 years old, stands 5 feet 7 inches tall, is thin, has short black hair, sports a thin mustache, wore a black t-shirt, light-colored pants, wore black and white athletic shoes and wore a black backpack with white lettering. The second suspect is either a Hispanic man or woman, in a black sweatshirt, black pants and was walking with a 10-speed bicycle. The burglars were caught on camera just before 6 a.m. in the 1300 block of North Lake Avenue June 8. The suspects forced their way into the business and took $7,000, Pasadena Police said. The home burglaries occurred between 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of Heatherside Road and the 100 block of South Rafael Avenue. The suspects used a brick to smash through windows, Pasadena Police said in a written statement. The suspects may be responsible for another home burglary in the 300 block of North San Rafael the same day. The loss was Japanese currency and jewelry. The first suspect is a white or Hispanic man, 18 to 20 years old. He stands 5 feet 10 inches tall, has a medium build, short black hair and wore a black sweatshirt and black pants. The second suspect is a Black man, 18 to 20 years old, stands 5 feet 8 inches tall, has a thin build, black hair and wore a black sweatshirt, black shorts and black shoes. The suspects fled in a 2017 grey Hyundai Elantra with “Glendale” paper plates. Anyone with information on the suspects is urged to call Pasadena Police Detective Gurrola at 626-744-7094. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor PASADENA - Two men arrested April 10 for a disturbance were later suspected of burglaries at an electronic repair shop and at several Pasadena schools.
Jesus Martinez Galarza, 20, and Freddy Solorio, 19, were arrested in the 300 block of South Lake Avenue after officers responded to a disturbance call. Officers discovered evidence linking both men to an electronics repair shop burglary in the 1000 block of East Green Street. One of the suspects received an injury consistent with lacerations caused by broken glass. Recent early-morning burglaries at several were committed when entry was made through broken windows. Laptops were taken at the schools, but they were not the only things taken. Pasadena Police detectives located and took blood evidence discovered on the broken glass from injuries sustained by one or more suspects, Pasadena Police said. “Pasadena Commercial Burglary Detective Thomas Blanchard questioned the two men and obtained statements under Miranda implicating their involvement in the school burglaries,” Pasadena Police said. Search warrants served at the suspects’ homes revealed stolen evidence from the Pasadena schools and electronics repair shop, Pasadena Police said, including laptops and cell phones. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed 12 felony counts on both Galarza and Solorio, including charges of Commercial Burglary and Felony Vandalism April 12. Galarza and Solorio’s arraignment was set for April 12. Galarza and Solorio’s bail was set at $120,000. The investigation is ongoing, Pasadena Police said. |
