Fourteen people were arrested on suspicion of driving on a revoked or suspended license, four on suspicion of DUI and one driver was arrested on an outstanding warrant, Pasadena Police said. The checkpoint was conducted at Arroyo Parkway and Cordova Street.

The DUI saturation patrols are scheduled for Thursday, September 27 from 6 p.m. to Friday, September 28 at 3 a.m. A DUI checkpoint is scheduled Friday, September 28 at 6 p.m. to 3 a.m. Saturday, September 29. The checkpoint’s location is chosen based on collision statistics and the frequency of DUI arrests, according to the Pasadena Police Department. “Studies of California drivers have shown that 30 percent of drivers in fatal crashes had one or more drugs in their systems,” Pasadena Police said in a written statement. “A study of active drivers showed more tested positive for drugs that may impair driving (14 percent) than did for alcohol (7.3 percent).” Marijuana was slightly more prevalent in the above-mentioned study, at 7.4 percent.
