CityWatch Editor PASADENA - A death investigation is underway after a body was found on an A Line train platform early Wednesday. First responders were sent to the Memorial Station, 125 E. Holly St., at 4 a.m. July 24. The victim is described as a Black man in his 40s, according to Lt. Matt Campeau of the Pasadena Police Department. Campeau would not elaborate if there was anything suspicious about the man’s death. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner is on scene. A Line train Service has been restored to the Memorial Station after trains temporarily bypassed the location during the investigation, according to the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority. The collision between the vehicle and a metro A Line train occurred at East California Boulevard and South Raymond Avenue around 9:18 a.m. The driver of the vehicle, the only occupant inside, had to be extricated by Pasadena Firefighters. She was hospitalized with significant injuries, according to Lisa Derderian, public information officer for the city of Pasadena. Active Incident: Pasadena Fire and Pasadena Police are on scene at Raymond Avenue and California Boulevard for a Metro A-line train and vehicle collision. There is one patient requiring extrication. Traffic will be impacted in that area. Please avoid the area. The area where the collision occurred is normally heavily impacted with traffic on a normal day. Traffic in the surrounding area will continue to be very heavily impacted as an investigation continues, Derderian told SGV CityWatch. Right now, there is no metro train service between the Delmar station and South Pasadena station due to the collision. PASADENA - All lanes of the westbound 210 freeway west of Madre Street except the No. 5 lane remain closed after a big rig hit the center divider and knocked debris across the Gold Line tracks. The crash occurred around 5:22 a.m. December 7. The semi hauling the empty trailer may have hit another vehicle before hitting the center divider, according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP officers on scene are requesting to have Metropolitan Transportation Authority to shut down the Gold Line tracks. The CHP will be diverting westbound traffic off the freeway at Sierra Madre Villa. According to officers at the scene, approximately 30 gallons of diesel fuel has spilled onto the freeway. A fire ignited after the collision occurred, which was reported around 6:08 p.m. August 15. The westbound HOV and No. 1 lane are blocked until at least 7:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. Trains in both directions are stopped. The big rig landed one the Gold Line tracks after possibly swerving across multiple lanes of the freeway and smashed through the divider, according to the California Highway Patrol. The Sig Alert affects the HOV, No. 1 and 2 westbound lanes until Noon, according to Officer Peter Nicholson of the California Highway Patrol Traffic management Center. The semi somehow veered from the slow lane and through the divider, the CHP reported. The big rig driver was able to walk away from the rig, which eventually ignited, the CHP said. The driver’s injuries are unclear. There are no Gold Line trains running between the Allen Station and Sierra Madre Villa Station. Bus bridges are moving Gold Line passengers between the mention stations, according to Los Angeles Metro officials. An unknown person called the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority just before 9 a.m. to report the device, which appeared to have soldered components to make appear as a dangerous device, according to Lt. Pete Hettema of the Pasadena Police Department. Metro officials then notified Pasadena Police. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Arson/Explosives Detail was called to handle the device. Pasadena Police shut down some roads near the scene, including Lake Avenue up to Orange Grove Boulevard, Hettema said. The device was x-rayed by Arson/Explosives technicians. The California Highway Patrol shut down the westbound 210 off ramp from Lake Avenue for several hours. Authorities cleared the scene by 11:09 a.m., Hettema said. It was unknown if a suspect was seen attaching the device to the railing. A power pole or overhead gantry supplying power to the Gold Line was knocked down in the crash, according to the California Highway Patrol. The collision occurred around 1:21 a.m. The lanes still closed will remain so for an unknown duration, the CHP said. A sedan was likely involved in the collision and possibly two other vehicles collided in the crash. At least one person was injured in the crash and the CHP may have spoken with the hospitalized driver to obtain a vehicle description for the investigation. Grade crossing signals are intermittently staying in the down position at some Pasadena crossings, according to the Pasadena Police Department. The Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority is aware of the issue and is working on a solution, Pasadena Police said.
