He was declared dead at the scene, according to the Pasadena Police Department. A motive for the shooting is apparently not known. The Pasadena Police Robbery Homicide Unit is investigating. David Lamont Hunt-Cooks, 28, and Brittney Chenise Ruth, 32, are facing one count each of homicide after the Los Angeles County Attorney’s Office formally filed charges January 11. The duo were arrested January 9, according to the Pasadena Police Department. The duo are accused of their involvement in the death of 22-year-old Martrell Eric Robinson who was shot dead just before 1:30 a.m. October 30, 2022. The shooting took place in the 100 block of Painter Street. Robbery/homicide detectives from the Pasadena Police Department identified multiple suspects who are connected to a local criminal street gang. A search warrant was served in Pomona January 9 with the assistance of the US Marshall Service, Southwest Fugitive Apprehension Task Force, according to the Pasadena Police Department. Hunt-Cooks is being held in lieu of $3 million bail. Ruth is being held in lieu of $2 million bail, according to the Pasadena Police Department. Officers received an alert from their recently installed ShotSpotter system, which notifies law enforcement of potential gunfire at a specific location. Police also received a call of a man down around 8:48 a.m., according to the Pasadena Police Department. Thomas died at the scene in the 1700 block of North Fair Oaks Avenue May 2. Police were called around 8:42 p.m. to the location for a person down May 2. The city’s brand new Shot Spotter system also alerted police of multiple gunshots, according to Lt. Marsha Taglioretti of the Pasadena Police Department. “When our officers arrived they did find one person down, a male adult, and he was deceased,” Taglioretti told SGV CityWatch. Pasadena Police detectives have been notified and will be taking over the investigation. There is no suspect description yet available, Taglioretti told SGV CityWatch. Both victims were sitting in a vehicle parked in the 2500 block of East Foothill Boulevard when a suspect approached and opened fire. A 23-year-old Azusa man died after being hospitalized. A 19-year-old Duarte woman was treated for injuries considered not life-threatening and released from the hospital, according to the Pasadena Police Department. Police responded to the scene just before 9 p.m. Saturday to find the man had been shot multiple times. The woman had minor injuries. Detectives believe one man was responsible for the shooting. He fled the scene after the gunfire. He is described as a Black male in dark-colored clothing, Pasadena Police said. Francisco Javier Soto Cedillo, 24, was tracked down to his home in the 800 block of North Oakland Avenue. Cedillo and the vehicle he drove when he fatally struck a 27-year-old woman were both found at the residence, according to the Pasadena Police Department. Jessica Rivera Torres was struck as she crossed the 1100 block of North Fair Oaks Avenue Sunday, October 21, around 7:20 p.m. Torres was declared dead at the scene. Cedillo is being held in lieu of $85,000 bail and is additionally held on a DUI warrant, Pasadena Police said. County booking information for Cedillo was not yet available. Miguel Castaneda, 23, was arrested October 2. Valentina Rosales, 23, was arrested the following day. The two have since been charged in the fatal stabbing of Demetrio Tapia II in a Pasadena Rose Bowl parking lot, the Pasadena Police Department said. Castaneda was charged with one count of murder. Bail is set at more than $2 million. Rosales was charged with one count of being an accessory after the fact. Her bail has been set at more than $1 million. Rosales and Tapia feuded over social media days prior to the stabbing and both agreed to meet in a Rose Bowl lot to settle their fight, according to the Pasadena Police Department. A physical altercation occurred in Parking Lot K where Tapia was stabbed to death, Pasadena Police said. Castaneda and Rosales are scheduled to appear in Pasadena Superior Court Friday, October 5. A man in his 40s was found unresponsive on a sidewalk by arriving officers in the 2600 block of East Colorado Blvd. around 1:30 a.m. September 12, suffering from stab wounds to the torso. Despite life-saving efforts by Pasadena Firefighters, the man died later an a nearby hospital, Pasadena Police said. A second victim, a man in his 30s, was found with a knife sticking out of his leg. He is hospitalized in critical condition. The suspect and both victims were in a verbal fight with the suspect who left the bar, but returned a short time later armed with the knife. A passerby saw the attack and helped detain the suspect until officers arrived, Pasadena Police said. A motive remains unknown.
