CityWatch Editor PASADENA - The body of a man found in the donation area at a Goodwill displayed no obvious signs of foul play, a police lieutenant said Wednesday. Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner investigators are determining a possible drug-related cause, according to Lt. Cuellar of the Pasadena Police Department. An employee discovered the body at the Goodwill, 340 S. Fairoaks Ave. just after 11 a.m. July 8. The man was wrapped in a blanket and did not appear to be dumped there, Cuellar told SGV CityWatch. The donation area is a walled-off section near a corner of the store. It’s unclear how long the body was there before discovery. The medical examiner has yet to publicly identify the body. CityWatch Editor PASADENA - Investigators have released very clear sketches of the two suspects wanted in the murder of a child who was playing video games in his own home almost four years ago. The discovery of a partial license plate to a gray Ford Fusion (QJ117) and witness statements provided a treasure trove of information related to the two suspects who are apparently connected to the Pasadena, San Jose and Alameda County areas, according to the Pasadena Police Department. The suspects are described as: -A Black male with a medium complexion, 33 to 37 years old, stands 6 feet to 6 feet one inch tall, and weighs 185 to 195 pounds. He wore a red and black The North Face hoodie. -A Black female with a medium complexion, 27 to 31 years old, stands 5 feet 3 inches to 5 feet 5 inches tall, and weighs 165 to 185 pounds. She is the suspected getaway driver. 13-year-old Iran Moreno was shot November 20, 2021. Moreno was harmlessly playing video games in his bedroom in the 900 block of North Raymond Avenue. In a parking lot across the street, the gray Ford fusion stopped and a front passenger exited. Two gunshots were fired eastward, one bullet struck the teen, according to the Pasadena Police Department. CityWatch Editor PASADENA - A man is being treated for injuries sustained after jumping from an overpass and onto the 210 freeway Thursday. Drivers reported a person climbing over the fencing near the Fair Oaks Avenue exit on the westbound side of the freeway around 2:45 p.m. April 3. Freeway traffic was stopped at the request of first responders, according to the California Highway Patrol. The man is described as being in his 20s to 30s, according to the Pasadena Fire Department. CityWatch Editor PASADENA - Authorities identified the driver, and was found shot dead behind the wheel of a vehicle in Pasadena March 26. Ivan Cervantes-Cruz What sound still seated in the driver seat of his white sedan the crash of the 700 block of Rio Grande St., Wednesday around 6:15 p.m. His vehicle jumped the curb and crashed into a wall in a residential area. He died at the scene. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner has yet to provide the official cause of death. CPR was administered to Cervantes by a Pasadena Police officer until paramedics arrived, but Cervantes could not be revived. It is unclear if Pasadena Police Robbery/Homicide detectives have identified a suspect, or a motive in the shooting. CityWatch Editor PASADENA - Pasadena City College police officers reportedly used force to subdue and detain a suspect accused of sexually assaulting a male on a bus October 9. The suspect reportedly followed the victim after the assault onto the Pasadena City College campus, 1570 E. Colorado Blvd. although the victim was allegedly sexually assaulted, he declined medical attention, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Transit Services Bureau. CityWatch Editor LOS ANGELES - Investigators named the 41-year-old man who died on a train platform in Pasadena July 24. Isaac Hackett was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. He was a Monrovia resident. While the medical examiner continues to defer the cause of death, a recent crime report published by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Transit Services Bureau suggests Hackett fell. “Officers assigned to Pasadena PD conducted the preliminary investigation and stated the male fell from the apartment complex located above the station,” according to the Transit Services Bureau in a written statement. >>READ THE ORIGINAL STORY It is not publicly clear if Hackett fell accidentally, was pushed, or possibly jumped. CityWatch Editor PASADENA - A death investigation is underway after a body was found on an A Line train platform early Wednesday. First responders were sent to the Memorial Station, 125 E. Holly St., at 4 a.m. July 24. The victim is described as a Black man in his 40s, according to Lt. Matt Campeau of the Pasadena Police Department. Campeau would not elaborate if there was anything suspicious about the man’s death. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner is on scene. A Line train Service has been restored to the Memorial Station after trains temporarily bypassed the location during the investigation, according to the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority. The assault occurred around 8:40 p.m. Saturday, April 13 near Sierra Madre Villa Avenue north of Foothill Boulevard. After entering the woman’s vehicle, the suspect threatened her with a knife and forced her to drive to a new location where he assaulted her, according to the Pasadena Police Department. The suspect fled after the victim fended him off. The suspect is described as a Black man in his 30s to 40s. He stands 6 feet tall, is heavyset, wore a black face mask, wore a gray hooded raincoat, light blue jean pants and black shoes. He also had a distinct raspy voice. Firefighters successfully extinguish flames within 25 minutes arriving to the 700 block of East Villa Street, preventing the spread of fire to nearby trees and homes. First responders were sent to the house around 7:39 p.m., according to the Pasadena Police Department. “The residence was found to be vacant, having been boarded up, and no occupants were discovered inside. Given the circumstances, an Arson Investigator promptly arrived at the scene,” according to the Pasadena Police Department in a written statement. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor PASADENA - The suspect accused of murdering a man at a Pasadena Park November 18 was arrested and charged with murder and was charged with crimes stemming from other incidents in town.
Aaron Miguel Conell, 24, was officially charged with one count each of murder, attempted murder and assault with a semiautomatic firearm, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Conell allegedly shot and wounded another victim October 29 at Washington Park, 700 E. Washington Blvd., the same park where 64-year-old Mickey Cooper was found shot dead last week. Conell is also accused of walking up to a driver at a Pasadena gas station and aiming a handgun at the driver’s head, according to the District Attorney’s Office. Mickey Cooper is the brother of former NBA basketball player Michael Cooper. Michael told ABC7 Eyewitness News that the brothers would often play basketball at the same park where Mickey was slain. Mickey led a somewhat troubled, but otherwise quiet life in his adult years. If convicted as charged, Conell will face 50 years to life in prison. |
