CityWatch Editor 1:38 p.m.: CHP has cancelled the Sig Alert on the 134 freeway after this morning’s deadly crash. All lanes are open. PASADENA - All lanes of the westbound 134 freeway at San Rafael Avenue remain closed for a fatal collision Sunday. All westbound traffic on the 210 freeway to the west 134 is being diverted off at Fairoaks Avenue. Lanes are expected to be closed for four to eight hours, according to the California Highway Patrol. The collision occurred around 8:12 a.m. January 5. It is not quite clear yet exactly how many vehicles were involved in the initial crash. The first reports indicated that possibly as many as four vehicles were involved. The incident started with a report of a vehicle entering the westbound 134 while traveling eastbound at San Rafael Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol. A witness to the crash told CHP dispatchers that one of the vehicles exploded after crashing, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs. Requests have been made for tow trucks to haul away at least six vehicles for evidence. UPDATE: At 8:42 a.m. the Sig Alert was cancelled, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor PASADENA - Nearly 12 hours after going into effect, a Sig Alert on the westbound, 210 freeway near Lake Avenue remains mostly in effect after a manufactured home being towed became dislodged and fell into traffic lanes. All lanes, except the HOV and No. 1 lane of the West 210 freeway just east of Lake Avenue remain closed, according to Officer Garcia of the California Highway Patrol. At 5:40 a.m. Tuesday, the Sig Alert was extended for possibly an additional two hours, Garcia told SGV CityWatch. The crash was reported to the CHP around 6:53 PM Monday, June 24. After the home fell off of the trailer, the trailer of another semi was damaged after striking the manufactured home. A white Honda SUV crashed into the home as well. Minor injuries were reported, according to the Pasadena Fire Department. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor PASADENA - A vehicle and a light rail train collided Thursday morning the driver of the vehicle to the hospital, authorities said.
The collision between the vehicle and a metro A Line train occurred at East California Boulevard and South Raymond Avenue around 9:18 a.m. The driver of the vehicle, the only occupant inside, had to be extricated by Pasadena Firefighters. She was hospitalized with significant injuries, according to Lisa Derderian, public information officer for the city of Pasadena. Active Incident: Pasadena Fire and Pasadena Police are on scene at Raymond Avenue and California Boulevard for a Metro A-line train and vehicle collision. There is one patient requiring extrication. Traffic will be impacted in that area. Please avoid the area. The area where the collision occurred is normally heavily impacted with traffic on a normal day. Traffic in the surrounding area will continue to be very heavily impacted as an investigation continues, Derderian told SGV CityWatch. Right now, there is no metro train service between the Delmar station and South Pasadena station due to the collision. Bus bridges are being requested, according to the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority. The stabbing victim was located at the Memorial Park Station for the Metro L Line after deputies received multiple 9-1-1 calls around 6:40 p.m. Thursday, June 23. Investigators are still trying to determine exactly where the stabbing took place, according to Ramon Montenegro, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Transit Services Bureau. The stabbing victim was taken to a hospital for treatment. Initially, investigators believe that the stabbing did not occur at the Memorial Park Station. “It’s still a really, really active investigation, so we really don’t know a lot about it. We requested video both from the station and from the train the individual was on,” Montenegro told SGV CityWatch. All Metro L Line trains are skipping the Memorial Park Station due to the investigation. Anyone who may have been aboard the train or at the Memorial Park station and who has information that could aid the investigation is urged to call the Sheriff’s Transit Services Bureau at 323-563-5000, Or visit lasd.org/transitservicesbureau. The collision occurred around 3:17 p.m. May 27 at the intersection of East Colorado Boulevard and North Oak Avenue, according to Lisa Derderian, public information officer with the City of Pasadena. “The other driver remained on scene and is cooperating. They are uninjured. The motor Officer was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries,” Derderian told SGV CityWatch. Drivers are asked to avoid Colorado at Oak during the investigation. A one-hour Sig Alert was issued at 5:56 p.m. April 6. The pedestrian was found just before 5:30 p.m., according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs. It is not yet clear how the pedestrian died. Officer Ramon Kendricks of the California Highway Patrol traffic Management Center could not yet confirm if the victim is a man, woman, nor the possible age range. PASADENA – One person was killed in a crash on the 210 freeway early Monday. The westbound No. 4 and 5 lanes are expected to reopen by 8:30 a.m. after having originally closed by about 3 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. The fatal crash occurred around 2:35 a.m. February 7. Few details are available, other than the collision was reported around the Lake Avenue off ramp on the westbound 210 freeway. The California Highway Patrol Traffic Management Center still has no other details, including how many vehicles were involved, or if it was a pedestrian killed, according to CHP Officer Moises Marroquin. Temple City teens Andyn Bae, 17, and Eric Gullekson, 16, died at the scene. Nicholas Torres, a 17-year-old Monterey Park resident died after being hospitalized. The crash occurred around 8:25 p.m. Sunday on Michillinda Avenue south of Foothill Boulevard. Bae was driving the 2005 Honda south on Michillinda when, for unknown reasons, it crashed into a raised concrete curb, bounced and hit a chain link fence, crashed into a dirt/shrub embankment and rolled over, according to the California Highway Patrol. It is unclear as of Tuesday whether alcohol and/or drugs contributed to the crash. The collision occurred on the west 210 under the 134 freeway transition road to the east 210 freeway around 2:34 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. A four-hour Sig Alert was issued for the No. 3 and 4 lanes of traffic around 2:30 a.m. The Sig Alert ended around 4:40 a.m. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor UPDATE, 6:30 A.M.: After two CHP units on scene reported debris on the Gold Line tracks, CHP dispatchers said one train moved past the crash at reduced speed and reported no blockage on the railroad tracks.
A Sig Alert has been issued, with a closure of the HOV, No. 1, 2 and 3 lanes beginning at Rosemead Boulevard for two hours. PASADENA - All lanes of the westbound 210 freeway west of Madre Street except the No. 5 lane remain closed after a big rig hit the center divider and knocked debris across the Gold Line tracks. The crash occurred around 5:22 a.m. December 7. The semi hauling the empty trailer may have hit another vehicle before hitting the center divider, according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP officers on scene are requesting to have Metropolitan Transportation Authority to shut down the Gold Line tracks. The CHP will be diverting westbound traffic off the freeway at Sierra Madre Villa. According to officers at the scene, approximately 30 gallons of diesel fuel has spilled onto the freeway. |
