Aurelio Camarillo, 44, and Luis Silva, 28, were found and arrested in the shooting death of 32-year-old Luis Alberto Garcia, who was found wounded after crashing his pickup truck, according to the Pomona Police Department. “Both Camarillo and Silva confessed their involvement in the murder to Detectives,” according to the Pomona Police Department in a written statement. Officers responded to Holt Boulevard and Erie Street around 5:22 p.m. March 20, 2021 to investigate the crash and found Garcia suffering a gunshot wound. He was hospitalized and later died, according to the Pomona Police Department. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed a murder charge against Camarillo, shooting at an occupied vehicle and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Silva was charged with being an accessory after the fact, according to the Pomona Police Department. The suspects reside in Pomona. The extra patrol officers will be searching for signs of impairment in drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. “If you plan to have a drink or two, choose a sober way to get to and from wherever you are watching the game,” according to Pomona Police Cpl. Thomas De La Vega in a written statement. “Have a ride-hailing service or a family member who hasn’t been drinking take you home.” Funding for these patrols is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor POMONA – Authorities announced Tuesday the arrest of a suspect in the shooting and killing an Apple Valley man.
Donald Moore, a 37-year-old Pomona man, is accused of being the gunman who murdered Enrique Falcon, 35, in the 300 block of East Foothill Boulevard just before 7 p.m. February 2. The arrest occurred the same night of the killing, according to the Pomona Police Department. Officers were called to investigate the sound of gunfire in the area and found Falcon suffering from a gunshot wound. First responders attempted to save Falcon, but he died at the scene, according to the Pomona Police Department. “That same night, Detectives obtained information that lead them to a nearby hotel room, where they located and detained Donald Moore. Later that evening and after further investigation and questioning by Detectives, Moore confessed to the murder of Enrique Falcon,” according to the Pomona Police Department in a written statement. One count of murder was filed against Moore by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor POMONA – Sheriff’s homicide investigators revealed that a gunman reportedly opened fire unprovoked on a Pomona officer who attempted to speak with him and several others Thursday night.
The shooting occurred in the 300 block of Orchid Lane around 7:15 p.m. February 3. The officer was struck by gunfire in one leg and was able to return fire, striking the suspect twice, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. The wounded gunman and two others that were congregating with him fled. A containment search helped find a suspect with two gunshot wounds to the upper torso. Both the officer and suspect were hospitalized. The suspect, only described as a Hispanic man in his 30s, was also treated. The fate of the two others seen with the suspect is not publicly known. The officer was wounded in the area of Angela Street and Chanselor Street. The shooting likely occurred around 7:20 p.m. A preliminary California Highway Patrol officer safety broadcast indicated one suspect may be detained and possibly three others are being sought. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor POMONA – A student of Marshall Middle School confessed, police said, to making a social media post that threatened gun violence at his school and Ganesha High School.
The student claimed the post was a joke. Administrators notified police after students and parents brought the post to the schools attention February 2, according to the Pomona Police Department. The student, who remains unidentified because of age, was booked on suspicion of criminal threats. “Pomona Resource Officers determined the student involved did not have access to a firearm and at no time were the students or faculty of Marshall Middle School or Ganesha High School in any danger,” according to the Pomona Police Department in a written statement. “Threats of violence against schools, students, or faculty are always investigated thoroughly and presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.” Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor POMONA – Police called to investigate the sound of gunfire Wednesday night discovered a man who would later die from being shot.
The Apple Valley man was discovered wounded in the 300 block of East Foothill Boulevard. He was treated at the scene, but was later declared dead by Los Angeles County firefighters, according to the Pomona Police Department. Police were originally called to investigate the gunfire just before 7 p.m. The Pomona Police Department stated the shooter and motive are unknown.
