POMONA – A woman and teenager are hospitalized after being shot late Sunday night.

The two arrived in a vehicle at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. Hospital Staff notified police around 10 p.m. officers later determined the shooting took place at San Antonio Avenue and Kingsley Avenue, according to the Pomona Police Department.

The woman was last listed in critical condition. The teen male received injuries considered not life-threatening. Police mentioned a second woman who was not injured in the shooting.

Police stated a motive was unknown.

POMONA – A driver suspected of a traffic violation decided to flee officers on a pursuit along surface streets and freeways May 16.

Martin Luna, 37, is accused of evading officers who tried to stop him for a traffic violation at White Avenue and Rancho Valley Drive around 12:46 a.m. Luna allegedly fled officers along the 60 and 57 freeways during the chase, according to Pomona Police Public Information officer Aly Mejia.

The pursuit ended in the 1200 block of Magnolia Avenue in El Monte with Luna being arrested. He was additionally booked for outstanding warrants, Mejia told SGV CityWatch.

Luna is being held without bail ahead of a scheduled appearance in Los Angeles Municipal Court May 19.

POMONA - A motorcyclist died after colliding with a vehicle on the southbound 71 freeway transition to the east 60 freeway Tuesday.

A Sig Alert is affecting the trans road from the south 71 to east 60. The 71 freeway mainline remain open, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported around 5:11 a.m. May 17. The motorcycle may have collided with a sedan. The motorcyclist landed in the No. 2 lane, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs.

The Sig Alert was issued at 5:31 a.m.

POMONA - Police announced Monday the arrest of a suspect in an April 19 shooting that left a man dead.

Felipe De Jesus Arias-Telles, a 36-year-old Santa Ana resident, was arrested May 12 in Anaheim. One count of murder was filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, according to the Pomona Police Department.

Hawthorne resident Joshua Ellis, 30, was found dead from apparent gunfire at Holt Avenue and Arbolada Way when officers were dispatched to investigate a reported shooting victim.

Police were sent to the scene at 1 a.m.

“Investigators from the Pomona Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene to assume the investigation. Through an extensive investigation, Investigators identified Arias-Telles in connection to the murder of Joshua Ellis,” according to the Pomona Police Department in a written statement.

POMONA – Officers with the Pomona Police Major Crimes Task Force and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office uncovered an illegal casino operating inside a home May 11.

Numerous citizen complaints and anonymous tips led to a search warrant being served at a residential complex at 1046 E. Third St. Cash and two firearms were seized from the location. Police detained 20 people inside the location and arrested three on outstanding warrants, according to the Pomona Police Department.

Major Crimes Task Force officers also seized multiple “fish game” tables and upright machines. All of the illegal gaming devices were destroyed, pursuant to a court order, according to the Pomona Police Department.

The residential building featured fortified entrances.

“The tenant of the property was not at the location but the investigation will continue and the property owner was notified,” according to the Pomona Police department in a written statement.

Assisting the Major Crimes Task Force was the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Bureau of Investigation – Community Violence Interdiction Team.

POMONA - One person is in critical condition, two others have injuries considered not life-threatening after a triple shooting early Sunday morning, police said.

Evidence of the shooting was found in the 100 block of East Second Street after officers were called to investigate a report of gunfire just before 1:30 a.m. May 8. Soon after, Pomona police dispatch was notified of three shooting victims who arrived in private vehicles to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, according to the Pomona Police Department.

Investigators reportedly have not identified a motive, or have identified any suspects.

The Pomona Police Major Crimes Unit is investigating.

POMONA - County firefighters are working to pull the driver from the twisted wreck of a dark blue sedan after he crashed into the rear of a tractor trailer in the I-10 freeway just east of Kellogg Drive.

The driver of the dark blue Honda accord was allegedly speeding in lanes of the eastbound I-10 freeway before the crash. The collision is taking up the No. 3 and 4 lanes of the eastbound side of the freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported around 1:32 a.m. May 5.

When Los Angeles County Firefighters arrived on scene, they reported that the driver was breathing, had a pulse, but was unresponsive, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Multiple good Samaritans pulled over to the side of the freeway and either were attempting to flag down other drivers for help, or prevent other drivers from crashing into the trapped Honda Accord and tractor trailer, according to a law enforcement helicopter over the scene.

A one-hour Sig Alert for the No. 3, 4 and 5 lanes of traffic was issued at 1:49 a.m.

POMONA - A man found wounded by gunfire later died after being hospitalized Friday night, the Pomona Police Department said.

The still-unidentified man was found wounded around 9:02 p.m. at West Commercial Street and North Thomas Street near the Pomona Regional Transit Center April 29. The man was taken to a nearby hospital and later pronounced dead, according to the Pomona Police Department.

The man was only described as being in his 30s. He was found wounded and laying in the roadway.

The Pomona Major Crimes Unit is investigating.
