Officers were responding to a gunfire call in the 100 block of South Reservoir Street when they found the man who was soon declared dead at the scene, according to the Pomona Police Department. Police received the gunfire call at 9:31 p.m. July 25. Investigators are still seeking a motive and suspect. The collision happened along Arrow Highway at La Verne Avenue around 9:39 p.m. Two vehicles collided and one driver was found unresponsive when officers arrived. She was transported to a nearby hospital, but died from her injuries, according to the Pomona Police Department. The woman was only described as being in her 50s. CHP officers responded to the crash and shooting around 11:58 p.m. July 25. There are reports that I suspect was taken into custody. CHP officer Patrick Kimball said that a person of interest was detained at 12:29 AM but he could not confirm if anyone was taken into custody, either by CHP officers, or Pomona Police officers. All westbound lanes remain closed at this hour as the investigation continues. There is apparently no suspect information available, according to the Pomona Police Department. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor POMONA - A man and woman were found wounded by gunfire after officers responded to a three-vehicle collision Friday and the man later died from his wounds at the scene, the Pomona Police Department said.
And the collision occurred around 11:09 p.m. at the intersection of Gary Avenue and Arrow Highway, July 16. These were also told of a gunshot victim, but when they arrive they found both a man and a woman inside of a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the Pomona Police Department. Despite life-saving efforts, the man, only described as a walnut resident, died at the scene. The woman was hospitalized, treated and released. The two other people involved in the collision refused medical treatment, according to the Pomona Police Department. Pomona Police Major Crimes Unit detectives believe that the gunfire came from outside of the victims vehicle. There was no suspect information at this time. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor POMONA – A parolee and his driver were arrested and a gun that one of the suspects attempted to discard was seized after the suspects fled police Wednesday.
Driver Salvador Ortiz, 26, and parolee and documented gang member Christian Ayala, 24, were both arrested Ortiz refused to yield for a traffic stop. Police with the department’s Major Crimes Task Force reportedly witnessed Ortiz run a stop sign, according to the Pomona Police Department. The stop sign violation occurred in the area of Grand Avenue and Reservoir Street around 9:48 p.m. July 7. Ortiz also suspiciously drove too close to vehicles parked along the street, Pomona Police said. As he fled, Ortiz allegedly drove up on a sidewalk as he turned south onto Reservoir Street. Ayala allegedly tossed a handgun from the vehicle during the pursuit, Pomona Police said. Ortiz briefly stopped to allow Ayala to flee on foot, but both men were soon caught. Ayala was booked on suspicion of a parole violation, being a gang member in possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a loaded and unregistered firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm and being a felon in possession of ammunition. A gang enhancement was also added, Pomona Police said. Ortiz was booked on suspicion of felony evading police. |
