Both men were found in the 900 block of West Mission Boulevard just after 11 p.m. Both men were hospitalized where one man later died, according to the Pomona Police Department. Investigators with the Pomona Police Major Crimes Unit have not yet identified a suspect or motive, but the department did state that the shootings were not believed to be random. Investigators preliminarily believe he killed himself.
PREVIOUS: Police Searching for Montclair Man After Woman is Murdered in Pomona July 12 POMONA – A woman died on the front porch of a home July 12, the victim of an apparent shooting and the suspect, believed to be her boyfriend, is still at-large. Officers responded to a report of a shooting victim outside a home in the 1800 block of San Bernardino Avenue just after 10 p.m. Officers found the victim and attempted to save her, but she died at the scene, according to the Pomona Police Department. One other person, only described as a female, was found wounded by gunfire. She suffered injuries described as minor. Investigators identified the suspect, Darnel Dwight Haley, a 62-year-old Montclair resident. A recent break-up is believed to be the motive behind the killing. Haley is known to drive a 2009 tan Kia Spectra, license plate number 8JNH311. He is still considered armed and dangerous. First responders were called to a pedestrian down in traffic lanes at Holt Avenue and New York Drive just after 9:30 p.m. July 11. Los Angeles County firefighters treated the man at the scene. He was later hospitalized where he was declared dead, according to the Pomona Police Department. Police reportedly do not have details on the type of vehicle that struck the pedestrian. The Pomona Police Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating.
