POMONA - Police arrested a man from Arizona March 21 after he admitted to carrying a loaded handgun.
Three vehicle violations were witnessed by an officer that led to a traffic stop: the driver made an illegal u-turn, the vehicle sported dark window tint and the driver failed to signal when turning to enter a freeway on-ramp, Pomona Police said.
The driver was followed from the 2400 block of South Garey Avenue when the illegal u-turn was made.
The front right passenger, identified as 21-year-old Juan Michel, told officers that he had a loaded handgun in a front pocket, Pomona Police said.
“He [ Michel] was removed from the car and a .45 caliber handgun was located on him. He was cooperative during the investigation and was arrested without further incident,” Pomona Police said in a written statement.
Michel was booked on suspicion of carrying a loaded firearm and carrying a loaded firearm inside a motor vehicle.
