POMONA - The man seriously burned after his car ignited in a solo traffic collision died from his injuries, police reported.
The driver was pulled from his burning Honda Pilot after crashing into a pole on West Temple Avenue and South University Drive just after 1 p.m. June 23. The driver was taken by helicopter to an area hospital for treatment.
Investigators followed up on the driver’s status Monday morning and were told by hospital staff that the driver died, Pomona Police said.
The driver was identified at the scene, but it is not known if next of kin was notified. The driver’s name remains publicly unknown.
No other vehicles were involved and the driver was the only occupant of the Honda Pilot.
