POMONA - A known Pomona gang member was arrested Friday after admitting to officers, unprovoked, that he had narcotics in his possession.
Efrain Huerta, 28, was taken into custody March 6 During a traffic stop in the area of Kingsley Avenue and Indian Hill Boulevard. Officers initially stopped the vehicle, of which Huerta was a passenger, for not having a front license plate and for failing to make a complete stop at an intersection, according to the Pomona police department.
“Huerta was noticeably nervous and without provocation admitted to Officers he was in possession of drugs and paraphernalia,” Pomona police said in a written statement. “Huerta showed the Officers what he admitted to and was removed from the car.”
Officers then located a loaded firearm resting near where Huerta was seated. A second hand gun was found holstered on Huerta’s person, Pomona police said.
Huerta was booked on suspicion of possessing a firearm with a controlled substance, carrying a loaded unregistered firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm and being a felon in possession of ammunition.
The driver and a second passenger were identified and released.
