Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor POMONA - Two gang members, identified as felons, were both arrested Saturday and found in possession of handguns. The first gang member, Darryl Martinez, 20, was arrested June 23 around 4 p.m. in the 700 block of West Holt Avenue as part of a gang suppression detail. Martinez fled authorities on his bicycle after they tried to stop him for vehicle code violations, Pomona Police said. Martinez ditched his bike and ditched his gun in some bushes while fleeing. He was eventually found hiding in a residential back yard and arrested, Pomona Police said. Martinez was booked on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of narcotics and a firearm and possessing an unregistered firearm.
Franco was briefly hospitalized for his injuries, but later booked on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition and possessing an unregistered firearm. The gang suppression detail was a joint effort between the Pomona Police Department’s Major Crimes Task Force and Department of Corrections Crisis Response Team. |
