Operation Dirty Thirds is born of federal racketeering indictments against the Mexican Mafia, authorities announced Wednesday. Arrests have been made and search warrants served during the operation. Authorities have a command post established during their execution of Operation Dirty Thirds inside Whittier Narrows Recreational Area in South El Monte. Treyvon Love Ollo was found guilty of one felony count of furnishing a controlled substance to a minor. Jurors also found true a special allegation that the defendant committed great bodily injury to the victim during the commission of the crime, according to Sarah Ardalani of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. The girl Visited Ollo at his Covina home June 30, 2017 and he provided her drugs. The girl, believing the drugs were cocaine, snorted the substance. The girl overdosed and paramedics were called to render aid, but the girl was pronounced dead at the scene. The drugs were later determined to be Fentanyl, a powerful opioid used as a painkiller. The pursuit came into the eastern San Gabriel Valley initially on the westbound 210 freeway in the San Dimas area. The driver has been enjoying light to moderate traffic to the 605 freeway interchange. The pursuit is now in the Hacienda Heights area. Andrew Crespo, 26, died from multiple blunt force trauma. His death was ruled accidental, according to Assistant Chief Ed Winter of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Crespo sustained fatal injuries after colliding with the rear of a vehicle at Garvey and Muscatel avenues around 2:54 p.m. May 12, said Lt. Kusayanagi of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. Firefighters arrived on scene and declared Crespo deceased at 3:09 p.m., Winter said. Adam John Escobedo died from multiple traumatic injuries when his motorcycle struck a vehicle at Temple Avenue and Willow Avenue, according to Assistant Chief Ed Winter of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. The crash happened just before 6 a.m. Escobedo reportedly was travelling at high speed when he hit the rear of a vehicle stopped at the intersection, according to Sgt. Ramirez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor REGION - The West Covina Mayor is potentially in hot water after being found unconscious in a Costa Mesa hotel room May 4 with “controlled substance items,” Costa Mesa Police said.
Mike Spence was found with a second person inside the hotel room in the 2000 block of Newport Boulevard just after midnight May 4 by Costa mesa officers responding to a medical call. Spence has yet to be charged with a crime or arrested. Spence was later hospitalized and released. The second person found in the hotel room with Spence remains unidentified. The case regarding the incident has been turned over to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. Spence is no stranger to controversy, having been previously pleading guilty to crashing his vehicle into a power pole in July 2016. He was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and pleaded guilty to being under the influence of methamphetamine when he crashed.

MOUNTAINS - Four off-duty Marines carried a distressed hiker to the search and rescue teams that were en route to save him Sunday.
The Montrose Search and Rescue Team and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau were dispatched to the distressed hiker near Switzer Falls in the San Gabriel Mountains May 13 around 4 p.m. As Montrose Search and Rescue personnel were traversing the five-mile hike half way downstream, they were greeted by four Camp Pendleton Marines who carried out the hiker, Montrose SAR said. The Marines stumbled upon the hiker and carried him upstream up a steep trail to where Montrose SAR personnel and the Special Enforcement Bureau were able to hoist him out by helicopter. “Everyone got to go home safe and just in time to tell Mamma their awesome story for dinner,” Montrose SAR said in a social media post. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor LOS ANGELES - Capital murder charges were formally brought against the Long Beach man who went on a two-month killing spree that took the life of his ex-wife and a woman he believed to be his ex-wife. Miguel Angel Prieto, 43, was charged with four felony counts, including two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder. The felony complaint includes a special circumstance allegation of multiple murders. Additionally, the charging document contains a special allegation that the defendant personally and intentionally discharged a handgun, which caused great bodily injury and death to the victims, according to Sara Ardalani of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
The complaint also includes that Prieto was previously convicted of assault with a deadly weapon in 2015. On April 11, Prieto went to his ex-wife’s Covina apartment and fatally shot Maria Perez, 42. Witnesses and family identified Prieto as a suspect. He was located in Long beach hours after the killing and taken into custody. Four days before murdering Perez, Prieto is accused of opening fire on a woman he believed to be her aunt inside a Long Beach restaurant. During the investigation, Covina detectives gathered evidence implicating Prieto as the gunman in an Azusa killing February 9 in which Prieto shot a man he believed to be his ex-wife’s boyfriend and killed a woman parked in the 1500 block of West McKinley. >>READ THE FULL STORY: Man Charged in Ex-Wife's Slaying Likely Connected to Attempted Double Murder in Azusa Prieto was scheduled to be arranged Thursday, but his court appearance was continued to June 28 in Pomona Superior Court.

Paul Erwin Black, Jr. surrendered to authorities at 1:30 p.m. He was arraigned in court for possession and distribution of child pornography and was released on his own recognizance, according to Armando Viera, Jr. of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Sheriff’s Human Trafficking detectives sought Black for above charges. He was known to frequent the West Covina and La Puente areas. A warrant was issued for Paul Erwin Black, Jr., a 49-year-old transient man. He is accused of downloading and distributing child porn on the Internet, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Black is white, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 210 pounds, has short blond hair and blue eyes.
