LOS ANGELES - The suspect accused of killing a father and his 1-year-old child in an alleged DUI crash two years ago was ordered to stand trial.
26-year-old Hans T. Guloy, also known as Hans Timothy Cruz Guloy, pleaded not guilty July 17 after being order to stand trial for for a double fatal crash on the 60 freeway near Diamond Bar Boulevard November 26, 2017.
Guloy faces two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated as well as one count each of driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage causing injury, driving with a .08% blood alcohol content causing injury, hit-and-run driving resulting in death or serious injury to another person and perjury by declaration, according to Ricardo Santiago of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
The felony information includes allegations of fleeing the scene of the crime and causing great bodily injury or death to more than one victim, according to Deputy District Attorney Cindy Park.
Guloy allegedly was drunk behind the wheel when he hit a vehicle carrying 29-year-old Abraham Franco, 1-year-old Abby Franco, Abraham’s wife and their two other children. The family’s vehicle hit the divider and was struck by a second vehicle.
The mother suffered serious injuries. The injuries of the other two children were not disclosed.
Guloy is accused of fleeing the scene and later told authorities that his vehicle was stolen when it crashed.
Guloy is being held in lieu of $750,000. He is scheduled for a pretrial hearing August 27 in Pomona Superior Court. He faces a possible maximum sentence of 22 years in state prison if convicted as charged, Santiago said.
