Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ROSEMEAD - An erratic man threatened employees of an auto shop and allegedly fought with a deputy while armed before being shot and subdued Tuesday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
The ordeal escalated in the parking lot of the auto shop in the 2000 block of San Gabriel Boulevard in Rosemead around 4:50 p.m. October 19. The suspect arrived to the business and allegedly threatened employees and the owner if they did not fix his car, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said. Deputies found the 25-year-old suspect seated in a vehicle with a female passenger. A handgun was seen in the suspect’s lap. Deputies ordered the man to move his hands away from his lap. “When the man refused to comply, deputies grabbed the man to remove him from the car. A physical struggle ensued between one of the deputies and the man,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. A deputy fired one round at the suspect after the latter reached for his waistband, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. A handgun was recovered at the scene. The man was wounded in the 2100 block of San Gabriel Boulevard October 19. He was reportedly taken to a hospital for treatment, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The man’s condition is not publicly known. What sparked the deputy or deputies to open fire is not immediately known. ROSEMEAD – A man who was initially described as a homicide suspect was arrested after a lengthy barricade inside a motel room Tuesday.
The unidentified suspect was flushed out of the motel room with gas canisters by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau. The suspect made a most dramatic exit from the room as deputies surrounded the suspect, according to video from CBS2 news.
The suspect was holed up in the 100 block of San Gabriel Boulevard.
Deputies sent a K9 after the suspect and he was subdued by the dog who ferociously clamped down on the suspect’s flesh. The barricade lasted more than four hours. Whittier Police initially tried to get the suspect to surrender. The barricade is unfolding in the 1000 block of San Gabriel Blvd. Whittier Police attempted to detain the suspect initially, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Deputies with the Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau have taken command of the operation. Crisis negotiators are also assisting. The remainder of guests and staff at the motel, as well as residents in nearby homes have been evacuated, the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said. |
