Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ROSEMEAD - Sheriff’s deputies are planning a DUI/driver license checkpoint, scheduled to begin Friday, May 10 at 6 p.m. The checkpoint will be held at an undisclosed location until 2 a.m. Saturday, May 11, according to deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. Checkpoint locations are chosen, based on collision statistics and the frequency of DUI arrests.
Deputies want to remind drivers that intoxicated driving also includes prescription drugs and marijuana. “In 2017, 1,120 people were killed in alcohol-involved crashes on California roads. Last year the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department investigated 395 DUI collisions which have claimed 21 lives and resulted in another 590 injuries,” deputies said. |
